*** The Mosharraf Hossain Rubel Thread ***
He's a bit old and is an SLA, but how long are you going to keep him away from the national side? And he's been brilliant in whatever oppurtunities he has got.
Anyone rate him and see him playing in the national team?

Md. Rafique had tipped him as his replacement. Unfortunately, the ICL saga ruined his chances and other spinners made hay in his absence. He might still make a comeback, but as is clear from the Test squad selection, the selectors rate him after Shakib, Enamul and Elias.

He's certainly better than Sunny for mine - gets much more drift+turn.

^^^ He went to ICL because he realised he had no chance after taking 1 wicket in 3 ODI he played.

He got only himself to blame.
When Rafique left, we didn't had numerous amount of SLA'ers like we do now. Only Razzak was known to be a gd bowler and Shakib was a part timer. Enamul jr was out of form too. So if he was sticking around a bit longer, he could have got more chances, specially in TEST!!!.

And if I could remember Razzak was not available due to suspected bowling action around that time. So yeah mosha got stung because of ICL

With current situation he need a stunning season to get into the team. He need to be head and shoulder above than the rest (of the specialized spinners).

Didn't Nafees play ICL too? Why was he picked then? Even Reza got picked.
I wouldn't blame him - at the time he'd have been making peanuts. Guy's gotta earn.

I don't think its an ICL issue. I think its more like a number game with so many spinners who are ahead in the line. Shohag is doing great, Sunny has some success last year and they are both ahead of Mosharraf. then you have Razzak and Enamul. it is just a number game.

Why is Razzaq ahead of Mosharraf in the pecking order? Why include Sunny at all if he's not performing as good?

The sad story is that nobody really got paid in ICL, right? (Which is why it was discontinued, right?)

^Razzak is 1 of our key men in our wins against G8 opponents, plus he's 1 of our most experienced players in a young team. Hard to drop the guy. Also I don't see where your getting Sunny is not performing good? You mean domestics? Maybe in domestics he hasn't been all that but his international stats are quite good. Averages in the early 30's in both Tests and ODI's and in the teens in T20I's. He's doing fine and should be continued with.

Yep I mean domestics. Mosharraf might have done better for all we know. If Enamul was picked over Sunny, then logically 2nd choice should've been Mosharraf. Why would they even pick Enamul otherwise? Sunny's fine but is out of form now, from what I've seen.

This Rubel should be in the lineup instead of other Rubel. Other Rubel is totally useless in all 3 departments. I hear this Rubel has some attitude problems and not well connected with the selectors...not sure if that's true, just a rumor..

He was selected for the preliminary squad for the A team tour of India. He didn't end up going to the practice sessions from what I remember. So that could be an issue as well.

bad attitude is a problem and it shouldn't be tolerated, players must go to training and should fit well with the group otherwise it makes everything tougher, plus it's not professional. he did pretty badly in his 3 ODIs, though his list A record isn't great so maybe he's not suited to 50 over over matches. in anycase shakib, gazi, enamul, sunny and sajib should all be ahead of him in tests and ODIs, maybe he could do some good service in the t20 teams as he has a pretty good record but there we also have razzak (also ahead of him in ODIs and now maybe even tests) so it's tough to make a break through.

So gowza's saying you should consider Odi performance for tests and T20s? He's been in good form, get him. Simples.

Never said that, the others I mentioned should be ahead of him in the various formats I mentioned due to their performances in those various formats.

Okay, misread your post there, my bad. Agree, Enamul is definitely ahead of him, but since he's injured, I'd go for him - has been consistent across all formats and both in NCL and BCL. I think he has a very good case for being picked in the current tour, since Sunny is out of form, even with Sunny in the squad, he can replace Abul.

no qualms there, could easily replace abul i agree. whether he should be there for sunny i guess is personal opinion. i like to back players unless they have a horror run, i think if you drop someone just because they aren't in top form then it's going to be tough for them to find form because they won't be in the team long enough. an out of form sunny still took 3 wickets in the first innings of the warm-up game, so if that's out of form then i'd still take that guy into my playing XI with the chance that' he'd come into form. if a player is having a real horror run and never taking wickets, or barely taking wickets then fair enough to be dropped, especially if someone else (or more) is knocking down the door. but if they've had a really strong run in their career to date and are still nabbing a few wickets when out of form then i think they deserve to hold their place and try to re-find form.

Fair enough. I'd ideally prefer Sunny, Him and Gazi with Rubel, dunno why the selectors are crazy about two pacers. Even if this was some sort of greentop, I'd still not prefer any more pacers in the squad now (and they didn't pick Shafi or Taskin either).

Agree with Gowza vai,According to recent performances we r choosing rubel and enam ahead of sunny but if u look at their career stat u will find sunny did much better than rubel, enam and razzak.
