They are talking about "beamers", which is a full-toss delivery bowled at above shoulder height.

There is two possibility. It may be the english word of "Beamer".
On the other hand it may be a bangla word "Bimar" which (I think) means someting related to sickness/desease.

It's probably "beamer"; I suspect the sickness/disease related term Fazal is thinking of might be "bimari", Urdu/Hindi for illness.

Seems to me you are new in cricket. Anyway from Wikipedia,
"A beamer in cricket terminology is a type of delivery in which the ball, without bouncing, passes dangerously close to the batsman's head. This type of delivery can result in injuries to the batsman, and the penalty for this type of delivery is an immediate no-ball signal given by the umpire. The bowler is then given a warning by the umpire for dangerous bowling. Repeated or deliberate cases may result in the bowler being disqualified and not permitted to bowl again for the remainder of the match.
Bowlers that are commonly known to bowl such deliveries, whether deliberately or accidentally, include Brett Lee and Wasim Akram.
As a result of this, some cricket boards are leaning towards introducing penalties in the form of monetary fines for the bowler if any batsman is injured as a result of this delivery."
Hope it will help.

From the definition it seems the three deliveries from McGrath in the 49th over in BD_AU first match of Natwest series against Rafique must have been falling into this category at least one if not all.

You talking about 49.5 and 49.6 balls? They were not beamer they were bouncer. If u give two beamers u are out from bowling for that day. Tino Best was out off bowling attack as well as he was fined 50% of match fee.

I knew a bowler back home who was deady fast and had acurate line. He once got a cap (paki) from the great imran khan when he was conducting a workshop in bd and challenged him to hit a single wicket by bowling that is. and he did it and he still have that cap with him... But unfortunately his nick was bimer cuase he could not land the ball at all and always bowl beamer to the batsman and after while ever one new he would bowl fast beamer which they hit outside the park for 6. Well end of his crickting career but he still have that imran kahans cap with him and proudly shows its off to his friends...rightly so i think....

feisal is right, anything bowled directly (full toss) above waist.............not head or shoulder. Wikipedia is wrong so someone needs to correct that
cheers
