Bangladesh Test Innings:Pre and Post Whatmore Era Comparison
I recently posted Score Range breakdown of all Test Innings played by Bangladesh Players in Analysis of All Bangladesh Test Innings thread. Chinaman requested a comparative analysis of pre and post Whatmore era test innings instead.
Here is the the pre and post Whatmore era innings score range breakdown:

Innings below 10 (0-9 Runs) is in Post-Whatmore Era is 49% where as it was 53% in Pre-Whatmore Era. Innings below 30 (0-29 Runs) is Post-Whatmore Era is 78% where as it was 84% in Pre-Whatmore Era.
Looks like there is a slight improvement!!

Obviously there is improvement, but I won't call it slight.
Apart from the stats, results speaks for itself.
Interesting for me is that, the instances of mid-forties score has doubled so has 100+ and mid 90+, overall there has been more instances of big scores. Which is a definate improvement.
Nice work

Thanks a lot, babubangla.
In short, the chart complimented what Whatmore called 'making of stars'.

Decrease in % of 0-20 runs innings.
Increase in % of 20-60 runs innings.
Incease in % of 100+ innings.
Surely clear improvement!!

Nice work BabuBangla.
Our century rates has almost tripled since Whatmore. Its 268% of what it was.
Our half centuries have have gone from about 7% to about 8.5%. A 20% improvement.
0-9 have reduced 9%.
How is the change in total runs? In 1st innings. In 2nd innings.
I think opponents innings are going to be drastically changed. Can you do it Babu Bangla. I guess we won't have much data on opponents 2nd innings from pre-whatmore era.

I too wont call this a slight improvement. This is a step in the right direction, Whatmore's improving graph.

Take England's current stats and improve it be the same percentages ours did. And then compare it to Australia's current stat.
Check if that is better than Australia.

One negative thing: Just omit the 1st test vs WI in our last tour to WI and some things of the above stats will change dramatically.
Anyway, we know that already since the cry for being consistent is the order of the day now.

I wouldn't straight away compare to England's improve rates just now! That would be a sheer waste of time.
However, after watching the above stats more closely - here is one positive thing: all our individual players just need 'one big push' so that they they can improve on their batting (or bowling) average just a 5+, and we're gonna be on our way to at least draw more games in tests and once in a while win a few ODIs against big nations.
Because currently, they're all on the 20s on average and depending on various conditions in different countries, all the other test nations have just a batting average in 30s in either tests or ODIs. Ofcourse, some countires have a batting average in the 50s or 60s, but at this moment, lets just concentrate going step by step.
So, in short, from the 'initial post Whatmore era', lets go to the 'middle post Whatmore era' by improving on these little things.

I like the mid whatmore comment.
There is a vlaue to the England Stat. It will show how far we have come more clearly.

By the way... there is something which will show in no statistics.. and that is the improvement of confidence in the team!
Unfortunately... there is not 'Confidence Factor' count in a Batsman's innings. I'd say BD has 3 times the confidence than they had 2 years back.. and that is 300% improvement!

Thank you Babu Bangla sir. Yours is a real genuine effort to break the boredom amids our lull.
What about comparing such stats with batsmen who have played comparable test innings before and after Whatmore's coming.
A short player list will indicate to a lack of consistancy, while on the flip side it will indicate to the discovery of better batsmen.
Actually, a similar comparison with each batting position, positions 1 to 6. Only the night watchman factor might slightly skew the analysis. But then again, whenever a Masri or a Rafiq showed up, we can throw them away.
