Welll we can still play in the Champions Trophy. Our team just has to play better and get past the qualifying round. There is a reason why they call this tournament the CHAMPIONS Trophy. You have to be a good team. Although I agree with Inzi with the fact that the lesser teasm need mroe exposure.

Yeah, Thanks Inzamam. Thank u very much for supporting and talking for Bangladesh.

Thats the reason why I like Pakistan ( Only when Bangladesh is not their opposition). Because there are some good people playing who supports team like Bangladesh.

We should appreciate this.

I find having 16 teams in WC 2007 is a silly idea,,,its sillier than having 8 teams in ICC Champions Trophy.

Yeh champions trophy should have atleast included the test playing nations. Why the hell are they in test cricket and in 1st tier of 1 day cricket if they cant play the 2nd prestigious 1 day tournament.

Motku has always been sensible. He lacks the cultish following of vain personalities like Imran, Majid, Azhar and Ganguli. This precludes him from having mouth-off for the sake of 'sounding elite.'

If we could stock enough biriyani for a year, he would make a great post-retirement batting coach.

You are right, Javed Miandad didnt support Bangladesh too much. I dont know why the BCB once brought him to coach us for a week.

Inzi is thoughtful in this.

However, we will get into the tournamet anyway inshallah. We need raise our bar to be more competative. We cant always just ask for exceptions.

Slightly off topic. It's been my personal view that ex-players who have natural (God given) talents are unjustly expected to be equally exceptional coaches. John McEnroe who was blessed with lightning reflexes (and who incidentally never took a conventional 'full swing' at a tennisball in his entire career) does not necessarily make a better coach than Jimmy Connors who toiled hour after hour perfecting the two handed back-hand skimming the net down-the-line.

I suspect that patience is in short supply when Miadad coaches and his students can't duplicate what (to Miadad) came naturally all those years. This, as opposed to the scientific approach of Geoff (I'll eat glass before making a cross-batted shot) Boycott who mechanically sweated out his entire career relying on mind-over-matter, mechanics-over-talent stuff.

Mechanics of a sport can be taught, exceptional talent, cannot.

Whatever the shortcomings of Javed and his utterings, we still need our players to be exposed to the likes of players like him.

Bringing him in for a few weeks does no harm. Also, high time to get Wasim Akram as a bowling advisor. But i share concerns about their coaching temperament. They are no good as permanent coaches.

I like the new format of the game. As aka said, we can still play in the Champions Trophy by doing well in the qualifying matches.

Just imagine the encouragements we will get if we can cross the qualifying round by beating Zimbabwe, WI and India, I guess. I believe, if we can play to our potential, beating Zimbabwe and WI, given both teams have so many off-the-filed problems, should not be very difficult.

My view is, I want to earn my right, I don't like to beg for it. Oh well, Inzi deserves thanks!

8 -> 4 -> 2

No odd numbers, if it was 10:

10 -> 5 -> 2.5

Having said that, 16 would also work, and is being done in the World Cup.
