Default The World's Happiest Countries.

Quantifying happiness isn't an easy task. Researchers at the Gallup World Poll went about it by surveying thousands of respondents in 155 countries, between 2005 and 2009, in order to measure two types of well-being.

First they asked subjects to reflect on their overall satisfaction with their lives, and ranked their answers using a "life evaluation" score from 1 to 10. Then they asked questions about how each subject had felt the previous day. Those answers allowed researchers to score their "daily experiences"--things like whether they felt well-rested, respected, free of pain and intellectually engaged. Subjects that reported high scores were considered "thriving." The percentage of thriving individuals in each country determined in the world rankings.

Part of the ranking is:

1. The Netherlands
2. Finland
3. Nowary
4. Sweden
8. Canada
14. USA
17. UK
81. Japan
91. Bangladesh
94. Malaysia
94. The Philippines
115. India
115. Srilanka
125. China
130. Nepal
155. Togo - the last one.

By and large, rich countries are happier--and that's no coincidence.

if there was a ranking for countries happy with the lowest or bare minimum possible, I bet Bangladesh would have been somewhere at the very top....

By reading the title, I thought we are number 1. But we are in number 91. Thats nice considering our wealth and other aspects.

What is the criteria?

Going out, spending money, getting pissed, starting fight then ending up behind bars, finding yourself in someones house in shameful situation, getting taxi from there and telling the driver not to look at you coz you look horrible. Crying all the way to home because you would not have done it if you are not pissed.

Is basically the idea of happiness in western world.

I got out all the time. Me or none of my friends or other acquaintances have ever experienced this.

Almost all the people that drink do not do what you said . Of course there are idiots who do. But I didn't like the tone of your post which seems to be addressed to everyone that parties.

মনে প্রাণে হাসতে চাইলাম... কিন্তু বাম অলিন্দের আশে-পাশে এক ধরনের খোঁচা অনুভুত হলো...।
