Congratulations to Ash for his 1st Series win as Captain
Guys
Let's all give a big hands to the Captain Ashraful for his first ODI series win as Captain.
I know it wasn't a big series but still a win is a win. No matter who the opponent is. This will give him the much needed confidence and inspiration to do better in the future tours.
This was his 4th series as captain. And his first win.
His averages as Captain:
ODI: 26.54
Tests: 26.07
Career summary ODIGrouping

I must also congratulate Ash on this series win, if not he would have been in the doghouse where you fans are concerned, so at least he redeemed himself a bit.
Anyhow, everyone here knows that I am his biggest fan and I have never put him down, nor will I ever do it, He made me a passionate fan since I saw him as a precocious teenager making his maiden ton against Sri lanka, I have been watching a lot of cricket, but i was dazed when I saw this little fellow bat the way he did against attacking bowling especially Murali. He is still golden, but the sheen had begun to fade. Hopefully, he will sparkle again.
Pls fans, cut him some slack.

I think we should against Ireland in Ireland. These fast n bouncy pitches will help our batsmen to work out their problems against the pacers.
I'm also looking forward to the Pak series.
Lets see what they bring for us.

Well done to Ash, cant believe people would question whether he should be dropped. Even though 3-0 against Ireland barely means anything, we need a captain for the long term and Ash gives us our best possible option to provide that, luckily the selectors showed some patience (for once) and stuck by him. Kudos to the selectors

Ash's contract as captain goes until the end of 2008, if everyone asks for his head then, then they might give it to Nafees, but Sakib is definitely not ready for full time captaincy, or they should have 2 captains, one for ODIs and one for Test matches.

I disagree with the idea of this not being a "big series win". It was huge in my opinion. We needed this. Ashraful needed this...desperately. Now the poor fella can finally breathe a bit. Well done mate. Hopefully this gives us a much needed confident boost for the Pakistan series.

Why do you say that?
His 64 not out in the first game don't count?
His 38 from 38 balls in the 2nd game don't count? That innings helped us getting a decent total after the slow start by the openers.
His 22 in the 3rd game don't count either? He stopped the mini collapse.
Besides its not about his contribution or something. Its about winning under his captaincy.

Yah muradnyc got good points.. he scored vital runs..
We were 52/2 in the first game..and his 64 was a great knock.. in the 2nd game without his 38.. we'd be in trouble..and his 22 was decent too..

Murad i see your points. But the problem is Ash is regarded as one of the best potential batsmen in the world. We fans are not happy with chutka chatka innings from him these days. We want tons from him regularly. That's where the problem lies.Painful difference between reality and expectation.

this series it would be hard to hit tons as he batted so late in the innings in 2nd and 3rd ODI, and he was unbeaten in the first.
reality must come with our expectations. besides, its better than ash's usual flops against minnows with their "not enough pace" bowling.

I must agree with you. Yet fans are fans. Some times we are realistic and some times we are totally illogical.
It's nice to see Ash scoring regularly against a weaker team for the first time.
