February 21st
Another Shohid Dibosh is here. Sadly, our language and culture has continued to take a back seat to the Bollywood (and to a lesser extent, Hollywood) culture. Many of our youngsters have no idea about the history of our struggles for our language that ultimately culminated into one of the bloodiest liberation wars ever.
What can we do to revert this trend?

You are absolutely right! Bangla has taken a backseat to Bollywood/Hollywood, Hindi/English. But what about Arabic/Arab culture?
"As-Salaam-Alaikum"
"Wa-Alaikum-Salaam"
"Masha'Allah"
"Subhanallah"
"Alhamdulillah"
I've heard and used these phrases so much growing up that I actually believed this was Bengali. But I checked and checked, and lo and behold, these are not Bengali phrases and words, but simply Arabic.
So will you consider reversing this trend?

no point comparing religion with entertainment.
The Arabic words you mentioned are now part of Bangladeshi Bangla in the Muslim community like table chair radio etc are in for everyone speaking Bangla
apart form these couple of words you wont see people speak anymore Arabic in regular day to day conversations. but you might hear Hindi/English. I think opening post was talking about that

Language is another affliction for human race that we could not do without. But imagine the evolution of pidgin to one set of grammatical definition and growth was eccentric not diversified to many many variations of creoles. No stupid could come and announce, Urdu will be the only language. Well a passive thanks to KN for reaping the platform for independence. His stupidity finally paid off. But coming to think of language, culture, epistemological values chained within nationalistic forces and stifled inside fictitious boundary lines all across this tiny planet of solar system gives me nothing but goosebumps. Did we miss a trick as primates, exponentially hindered growth potential?
Will do the math some other time. For now, my heartiest respect with the fire emanated from Royal Ponciana and the spirit of early spring to our martyrs,
Barkat Salam Rafiq Jobbar and many others who paved the road to the birth of a proud nation.

In that case, why worry about one and not the other? One could argue, given our Indian/British past, Hindi/English is also just as natural in our community.
It's silly to be worrying about the dilution of Bengali culture, while turning a blind eye to the infiltration of Wahhabism.
