yeah but i'd like to think bermuda's performance as a one time show, because they haven't really done well in the past. the fact that they got creamed by ireland shows their capabilities against a good side.

Rain ruined all the A group matches between-

Ireland and USA
Denmark and United Arab Emirates
Uganda and Bermuda

in the B group, Canada and PNG proved me wrong.

So, last round matches are now really really important for teams who are in position to get first four straight tickets to WC'07. Here is my prediction for 7th July-

A group matches
Ireland v Denmark
Uganda v United Arab Emirates
USA v Bermuda (I think it will be a close match)

B group matches
Netherlands v Scotland (This match is also a very close one to call)
Oman v Namibia
Canada v Papua New Guinea

From the A group Ireland is already won their ticket to WC and are sure to beat Danes. But, if it rains again, Danes are sure to get the other straight ticket from A group because of their higher run rate. If Bermuda win, they get the straight ticket. If Bermuda and Denmark both loose, UAE is sure to win against Uganda and their run rate will be higher, and thus they will get the ticket to WC.

In the B group Canada is sure to win against PNG. if Scots win against Dutches, Scots and Canadians get straight tickets. If Scots loose, two teams among Scotland, Holland, and Canada with higher run rate get to go to WC. If it rains, Scotland and Holland both win.

It will be whoever comes second in Pool A no doubt. So either Denmark, Bermuda or possibly even UAE. None of them would threaten Scotland and Holland.

Ireland, Bermuda, Scotland, and Canada got first four straight tickets to WC. Now, Holland, Namibia, Denmark, and UAE have to fight for the fifth spot, my guess is Holland will be the winner. I am expecting the final will be between celtic rivals- Irish and Scots.

I will be happier to see Canada in our group, but most probably, we will face Bermuda in WC'07.

the grouping was unfair. group b looks way tougher than group a. no wonder ireland is raping everyone else.

btw - scotland's doing great too! won all of their matches, and that too by beating the top teams of the tournament! a scotland-ireland final would be very interesting to watch.

Too bad for Ireland that Joyce leaving the team to return to county cricket, he was saving their bottom in almost every match. Now, I guess, Canada has a pretty good chance to beat them. That case Scotland is going to be the favourite to win the cup.

For the Canadians, if you are looking for another big world cup upset, pool 4 is pregnant with possibilities. So, you should hope that Canada will win their semi against Ireland, but not the final.

Scotland and Ireland are both on the backfoot and there's no Ed Joyce to save them today. Should they both lose then we'll end up with one of them in the World Cup. That wouldn't be so bad so long as we win.

Did you see how many runs Bermuda score? 310 - that's a massive job - an uphill task that we could not do.

Just look at their history:

The story so far:

1979 (England) Bermuda top their group with three wins and a no-result. In the semi-final, they lose to eventual qualifiers Canada by four wickets.
1982 (England) Bermuda again top their group with six wins and a no-result. And again, they lose to eventual qualifiers Zimbabwe.
1986 (England) Three times unlucky. Bermuda finish top of their group for a third successive time, and again lose to Zimbabwe in the semi-finals. Zimbabwe make the World Cup.
1990 (Holland) One win and two losses see Bermuda crash out early - their worst showing in the ICC Trophy.
1994 (Kenya) Bermuda clean-sweep their group, and finish second in the next group phase behind UAE. They lose to Kenya in the semi-finals and to Holland in the third- place playoff match. The teams that qualify? UAE, Kenya and Holland.
1997 (Malaysia) Two wins and two losses ensure that Bermuda miss out on the 1999 World Cup as well.
2001 (Canada) Bermuda finish behind Ireland and USA on net run-rate. A loss to Namibia seals their fate.
2005 (Ireland) After losing to the host nation and fellow-qualifiers Ireland, Bermuda win three matches out of four to seal qualification. The other game against Uganda is rained off.

I don't want us to face them in the world cup - they have a good traditional history like ours in the ICC trophies and this means they have the potential to beat even more giant-killers - (mainly us).

Semifinals are underway and the games are really tight, but the 5th place final (last left place in 2007 WC) should be Holland vs Namibia (but UAE are struggling really well!).

There could be another Bangladesh v Canada game at the WC, a chance to delete bad memories for the tigers!

I have read a comment somewhere that if Bermuda had a match on Eden Garden, Kolkata, their entire population would not even fill half of the seats. By the way, the population is 65k, they are, in true sense, a giant killer.
