No radical Changes for NZ series - Farouque
"Mashrafee has only started light training and I'm afraid he will not have enough matches to show his fitness level before the series. I have received good reports about Talha who played in the Under-19 one-day series in England. But he is still under therapy and not capable yet of bowling for longer periods. We might consider him for the one-dayers but certainly not for the Tests," said Faruque who has just returned to Dhaka from the USA where he went on a private trip. The chief selector however said that he had followed Bangladesh's performance in the Champions Trophy on television and ruled out wholesale changes despite the debacle in England.
Bangladesh were shot out for 93 by South Africa in their first match and suffered a crushing 138-run defeat against the West Indies in their second fixture.
"It is true that we have had a forgettable time in recent months. But there is little scope for any radical changes as most cricketers are not in action in the off season. That limits our choice. Besides, conditions at home will be totally different from what the team had experienced in England. I will look for players best suited to the demands at home," said Faruque adding that he will inquire about promising left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak whose bowling action underwent a scrutiny by an ICC designated expert in England.

razzak's bowling action needs some remedy as well so that means both of these guys are out - although we should wait for some other reports after the team gets in camp

Well we should really be going into this series with a very defensive mind-set, looking to arrest our free fall. I say, batting friendly dust bowls are in order. Pack our bowling attack with spinners and 7 frontline batsmen! No sporting wickets! NZ prepared fast bouncy wickets for us on our tour. We should return the favour by preparing the pitch to our advantage. Time to pull all the stops. Performance at all costs is the only answer at this crucial time.

Besides, we had done very poorly against NewZealand in Test match cricket. So some good performances by us in the Test series is what we should look for.
Our ODI performance against NZ is also not too good - not a single competitive match that we managed to play against the kiwis, not to mention getting all out for 77 against them, especially in the sub-continent. However, we do have only one good batting innings against them - during our world cup 2003. But then again, that was largely due to Pilot and Rafique's spirited batting in the end.

Yeah does that mean no Mashrafe. But he thinks Razzak will be in the team. Sharif wont play. And Talha in the ODIs. We need one or two of these players in the tests.
