Default Channel One closed

Bangladeshi Channel Channel One was shut down by BTRC.

Quote:
Dhaka, April 27 (bdnews24.com)— Private television Channel 1 went off the air Tuesday due to non-compliance of regulations.

The regulator body has shut down broadcasting activities of Channel 1 Tuesday evening, said the chief of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.

BTRC chairman Zia Ahmed said that the private television channel has violated the telecoms act as it had handed over its broadcasting equipment to another entity.

The channel had procured its equipments through bank financing and failing to pay, the equipment were auctioned.

"According to the telecoms act one cannot handover broadcasting equipments," Ahmed told bdnews24.com on Tuesday.

He said that despite several notifications and show cause notices by the BTRC the private television channel did not respond.

Khaleda Zia is angry.

Quote:
Dhaka, Apr 27(bdnews24.com) - Opposition leader and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia said that BNP was taking its time to launch an anti-government movement in order to let the new generation understand more about Awami League.

Khaleda Zia made the comment following a press conference at her Gulshan office on Tuesday where she also rejected the Bhola election result and condemned the government decision to stop channel 1.

She said, "Neither Bangladeshis nor foreigners have any confidence in the government," adding that the programme for movement would be announced after a divisional rally.

"We are taking time to let the new generation understand what type of object the Awami League is," she said

Khaleda also condemned the government decision to stop channel 1 and demanded that it be allowed to restart immediately.

Rejecting the result of Bhola-3 by-election, Khaleda said, "No election was held in Bhola. EC failed to hold free and fair election there."

"The commission is controversial. They should quit if they have any sense of responsibility," she said.

Khaleda claimed, "Hafiz Uddin would have won if a fair election was held."

Alleging that the incumbent government is not telling the truth about power generation, the BNP chief said, "The government did not generate a single megawatt of electricity during their one and half year rule."

They are lying when they say that no power was generated during our regime, she said, adding that they could not beat the Awami League in lies.

Venting her grievance over the closure of channel 1, Khaleda said, "Channel 1 was closed with a lame excuse. The government has closed the channel as more people watch the channel."

"They did not think even for a single moment about the fate of 400 employees. Today they have become unemployed," she said

Khaleda reiterated that this government should take steps to try the illegal government installed by Fakhruddin and Moinuddin.

"Where ever they stay, they will be tried after bringing them back home," she said, adding that the 'illegal care-taker' played games with the people as well as the army.

Khaleda criticised the government for price increases of daily necessities, unstable condition in the garment industries, extortion, tender manipulation and oppression on women.

The press conference was also attended by BNP standing committee member Abdul Moin Khan, and vice-president Abdullah Al Noman.

I just feel sorry for all those people who lost their jobs Very heart breaking.
As for the "Khaleda Zia is angry" article... *sigh* everything has to go back to the two ladies blamming eachother for everything!

Channel one was shut down due to the violation of the telecommunication act.
I don't see why the whole blame game is going on here. I mean Khaleda Zia said ''They did not think even for a single moment about the fate of 400 employees. Today they have become unemployed,"
Well She can't exactly talk! She never thought of the hundreds of people who lost their job when ekushey tv was shut down during the time she was the PM! Where were her feelings!? Where were her thoughts for the hundreds of people who lost their job? her comment can pretty much back fire!

UFF I am so sick of these two ladies! Bangladesh needs a change! BADLY!!!

I really wonder what would happen if we lock up khaleda and hasina in a room, with only one roasted chicken in the middle.

God - I'm already fantasizing about that catfight

If they then starve to death, will they in the process learn the hard truth that many Bangladeshis face daily? That of hunger, starvation and destitution? This will truly be a glorious way for them to leave us in peace.

sometimes I wonder about our netris... how can grown up persons act like these.. does it really give them that much satisfaction pulling each other's leg at this stage of their lives?

and about the actual news. Does it really surprise anyone even a bit? and you know which channels are going down when the govt changes.

but this is such a great business idea... start oiling/chamchami either AL/BNP.... get ur business running... make a mountain of money in 5 years... then leave Bangladesh and live all over the world for the next 5, and then come back and revive ur business again ...
