Bangladesh could tour Pakistan in 2012
CI reports Bangladesh could tour Pakistan in 2012.
If Bangladesh and Pakistan had a gentleman's agreement that it will go Bangladesh's way this time around, shouldn't Pakistan be a gentleman about it? Furthermore, a Muslim's words are promises. Pakistan prides about its Muslim identity. Then, why this game?
The way Pakistani security reacted when SL team was attacked does not give me a lot of confidence in their arrangements. Reportedly, the security people fled to ensure their own security and it was a miracle that the SL players survived the attack largely unscathed. Bangladesh needs to make sure that the security is airtight before finalizing any tour.

The masked men opened fire, killing six policemen escorting the Sri Lankans and a driver. Seven players and an assistant coach were wounded.

I believe a devil's deal is in the works. BCB, aka Kamal, gets the support for ICC VP and Bangladesh tours Pakistan. A lose-lose situation. On second thoughts - a win-lose situation - win, only if that leads to a departure from the BCB of Kamal. But at what expense? Mortal danger to our cricketers?

Why can't they arrange that series in Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

This is what I think of the issue and reposting it from the FTP tour thread:
The candidate issue was an gentleman's agreement.
So Pakistan won't be doing a huge favour by accepting our guy.
As for tour is concerned, we should bargain a bit harder.
Fine with me if the boys go to Pakistan, given written assurance from the Pak Govt to provide Top VVIP security protocol.
In return, get another full home-away series from Pakistan outside the current FTP. That means 2 series, each of 3 tests, 5 ODIs and 2 T20.
We got a raw deal in the proposed FTP and its upto us to make sure we increase the number of games.
Then make Saber H Chowdhury the Cricket Supremo.
Him at the top of the helm, we can be rest assured of the diplomacy part of our cricket development.

No security can be 100%, but they should be able to provide 99.99% effective security. This should be negotiated. BCB also should have Pakistan visit us 2 additional times.

I always feel that gentleman's agreement are honored by gentlemen. It will be honored with no precondition if the other party are gentlemen.

The condition of security in Pakistan is really the worst. There is no scurity even the citizens of Pakistan. So sending our tean in Pakistan means we send them in danger.
Though I wish to see international cricket in Pakistan, they must manage their country from terrorist.

Bro, don't need advocacy for your country. I also hope for a peaceful Pakistan. But it true and terrorists of your country prove various times that your country is insecure.

unlikely...they might be unaware of the true extent of the danger and plus, if tamim willfully canters off for a flimsy reason as "buying new bats" my guess is they will jump at the chance to tour.
just. not. safe.

I don't want to start a shouting contest, but how many high profile, successful attacks have been carried out in PAK in recent days? How many attacks have been carried out in and around mosques? I would not feel safe there praying in a mosque. A touring sports team will be an inviting target for the bad guys. Unless the authorities can ensure tight security, Bangladesh should not send the team. We value our players.

Just look at the list for 2011. My heart cries out for the people of Pakistan.

what for? to learn how to dodge bullets and drones and withstand shockwaves? its one thing to defend Pakistani foreign policies quite another to deny the facts on the ground. and just so I don't get a flood of PMs asking why i "hate ur fellow muzlim bros?", i used to be a big advocate of countries touring pakistan...till the Lankan team got shot up.

I don't like the idea at any level. I don't think a third rate administrator like Lotus being the ICC VP will enhance the image of Bangladesh (if it was Saber Hossain then I would have been all for it)... but more importantly I don't like the idea of us being the guinea pigs going to pakistan so that the rest of the world can know if it is really safe there. Let some other country tour first...why us?

Nop. After what happened to the Lankan team this shouldn't even be an option for now.

We cannot take the risk of sending our national team. Pakistan has no right to force us for the tour as we gave ICC President post in 2003 without any agreement.

BD would tour only because our dear BSB President Lota wants to take PCB as one of his ardent supporters as he'll be running for the future ICC President election....
