Former Argentina superstar Diego Maradona says he aspires to the national team job currently held by Jose Pekerman – even if the Albiceleste win World Cup 2006..

"If my country wins the World Cup, in addition to being very happy, I will fight to have the opportunity to become coach of the national team," he asserted. "And if Argentina do not win the cup I will fight even harder to get that chance."

"Being the coach of the national team is something that I owe to myself," said the football icon. "It would be the best way to end my career."
