I liked Aazad Mazumdar's report in New Age
Quote:
Ashraful fails, Mashrafee
sails for Tigers
Azad Majumder . Chittagong An extraordinary effort by Mashrafee bin Murtaza saved Bangladesh from following on in the second Test against Sri Lanka on Sunday, but that hardly came as a consolation as a huge defeat is still on cards unless the hosts make a significant turnaround.
Blame again shifted on Mohammad Ashraful, the Bangladesh captain, who set yet another example of how irresponsible one can be when he attempted a reverse sweep against Muttiah Muralitharan being totally unmindful of his team’s situation and was caught behind.
In the eighth year of his Test career Ashraful was waiting only for his eighth fifty, an statistic that easily describes how keen he was to get it, but being the captain of the side his team had expected something different from him in that tricky situation.
Ajantha Mendis had just delivered a twin blow as he removed Mehrab Hossain and Sakib al Hasan to reduce Bangladesh to 6-90 with the last recognised batsman Mushfiqur Rahim remaining, so it was Ashraful’s duty to take the responsibility on his shoulders and bail the team out of danger.
His failure was not an issue to anyone, but the way he failed without showing any respect to the leading wicket-taker of the game that raised a question on whether the skipper has any grey material in his head.

Now the question of grey material is coming in the general media too. But I am sure that this won't change any thing or won't help grow the amount of grey-material in his head.

not at all defending ash - who has again become my favorite player - but we have an even more serious problem than the lack of synapses in his CNS.
i am tired of ash either playing the lone hand or no hand. when we get a good score, ash contributes nothing, when we have a top order collapse ash scores. how different would things have been if tamim hit 70, junaid hit 50, and imrul hit 30 (i know his run out was tamim's fault) in Mirpure in addition to ash's 101 and rahim 61 and sakib 96???
potential is there...and signs of serious improvement also. one day, when we stop taking a step backward for every 2 steps forward, bangladesh will be a real beast on the international scene. the day may not be far away...

Filtered commentary - Bangladesh 1st innings - Sixes 43.3 | Muralitharan to Mohammad Ashraful, SIX, Ashraful's decided he's had enough of defending and he charges down the pitch and lofts with the turn, the ball sails over deep midwicket | Bangladesh 104/6 Mohammad Ashraful 31* (83b 2x4 1x6) M Muralitharan 6.3-3-17-0
| 75.4 | Mendis to Mashrafe Mortaza, SIX, lovely shot! Mendis gives it a bit more air, Mortaza gets on his knee and clubs it over long-off, he gets the distance | Bangladesh 201/9 Mashrafe Mortaza 56* (86b 8x4 1x6) BAW Mendis 27.4-5-70-4
| 76.1 | Muralitharan to Mashrafe Mortaza, SIX, take that! Murali flights it on middle and leg, he gets on his knee and slog sweeps it over deep midwicket, there are four fielders on the on side but they can do nothing | Bangladesh 208/9 Mashrafe Mortaza 63* (88b 8x4 2x6) M Muralitharan 20.1-6-62-2
