Deadline: 30 September 2017
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/c...ry/824791.html
If we cannot be in top 8 of ICC ODI tables by this cutoff date, we are going to be playing qualifiers. For those geniuses who know the rankings table formula, theoretically if Bangladesh manages to win this World Cup, will we be able to overtake the Caribbeans? The best result for us wold be to climb above Windies within 2015, if we take it too long, then we are really risking our direct qualification to World Cup 2019.
However, it is my firm belief that Bangladesh will be a safe distance from the number 9th team, and with some optimism, also a step ahead in 7th or 6th by 30 September 2017.

Bro, at least for once, can we stay on point and topic ....there's a timing for everything you know, after a while it becomes redundant, although I am sure everyone enjoys it once in a while....

If the Windies keep stagnating and become a 2nd Zimbabwe (quite probable) then we will have a good shot at getting to 8th without improving at all. Not really anything to brag about, but hey, we'll take it. WI are pretty terrible, they have only won a single away test against G8 sides since 2000.
Now if our boys progress the way they should, we should make a push into the 6th/7th/8th spot regardless and be at least as competitive as PAK/SL etc. I think NZ has the core to be a top 5 side in both formats of the game for the next decade so will be extremely tough to catch them.
But the downside is that we only play 10-12 ODIs per year as per the FTP, if we qualify directly for the WC, we'll lose out on 8-12 additional ODIs via the WC Qualifier per 8 year cycle. Could be easy stat boosts for our guys.

lol this will change as soon as India comes anywhere near 5-7. With their current form, there's a good chance they will. Pak is already 7th. Man! It'd be something if both of them go below 8! hah!

Interesting points there. WI/SL/Pak are all going to go through transition times for the next WC while our team should be in their prime. No better time to prove our worth here and make a serious run and catch up to these teams. If we can't, then we might have to accept that our team will always be a 9/10 team.
It won't be easy though, hopefully we continue to make strides and take advantage

Well, according to Peter Penna, Bangladesh won't languish outside top 8 by 2017, here's an article. He thinks its "unlikely", although the topic is on divisions within associate level.

Arrange a couple home series against WI/PAK/NZ each and BD will be in top 8 easily I reckon.
