Ridiculous ICC - height of hypocrisy - Super 8 teams already decided !!!!!!
[edit]
The most ridiculous thing that ICC can do ! check this on the ICC world cup schedule. I hope Bangla cricket will strongly voice its comments to ICC body for publishing this kind of schedule on the official website.
favoring teams is one thing, publishing the super 8 team names with their schedule is another. I think this is a blatant dis-respect for the other 8 teams playing in the WC.
I dont buy this crap of disclaimer published in the page
" Team names for the Super Eight stage are indicative based on the top two teams from the Group Stage qualifying. If these two teams do qualify they will be seeded in position 1 or 2 as specified regardless of whether they finish first or second in their group. For example, if South Africa wins Group A and Australia comes second, for the purposes of the Super Eights, South Africa will still be A2 and Australia will be A1. If, for example, Scotland qualifies instead of Australia, Scotland will become A1"
plz check these links

cheers !

Welcome back Padosan.
We don't care!! All we care is March 17.
I know you can't lose since you are a supporter of both teams. lol.

This is plain stupidity. They cannot simply do this. I have sent this e-mail to ICC.
Quote:
I am really surprised to see the degree of unprofessionalism by ICC. You have already scheduled super 8 stage matches with teams names assuming top two teams will qualify. Why don't you extend your imagination and write down the names of semifinalist, finalist and eventually the winner based on current ranking? That will make life even simpler. This is plain stupidity and we don't expect it from ICC. Cricket match is played on the field and there is no place of assumption here. This attitude also shows disrespect to other 8 participatory nation.
I expect you will understand your nuisance and will correct the mistake immediately. Correction should be followed by a public apology.
Regards,
Miraz

When ICC behaves like this, why whine about Cricinfo all the time?

I've never seen such a worthless site as ICC's one. Couldn't find any links for feedback or "contact us". What's the email you used Miraz bhai? Could you please let me know?

There's no rule that no two organizations can be at fault. If both of them are wrong and biased, then both should be targeted for criticism.
And nobody's whining. Everyone's providing a constructive criticism, which whining lacks.

There's difference between the two organizations. ICC is the only guardian organization of cricket, but many people mistakenly take Cricinfo as some sort of 2nd ICC.
BTW, I totally agree that ICC's website is useless. Apart from sometimes going there to check the rankings, I never visit their website.

This was done to facilitate the sell of tickets. Cricket world cup is not like football worldcup, if your country is not playing.. you hardly care....
that is the reason they fixed the positioning....it's actually to help out their customers. The names are publised in parenthesis so stupid ppl don't have to figure out....
For example, ppl are still thinking there migth be a Pak vs India second round match... they are not realizing it will be Pak/Zim? vs SL/BD regardless of group position.

Now that I think of it, they could have used my notation But still may be too complex for some people.
This news is old to me

They could help the ticket buyers by providing interactive 2nd round match predictor. That's not very hard and a very realistic solution.

Miraz kakku,
Link er jonno dhonnobaad. Ami IT'r manush to, tai best practice er upor depend kore choli. Jacob Neilsen (the usability guru) said, always underline your links, as that way users can identify them easily. ICC'r oshikhito web designers didn't read Jacob Neisen's book...so that's why this is their halot. Part of it may also be to stop fans from overloading their site with emails.

ICC and WICB have definitely made the match's money just by selling the TV rights and other endorsements , the sale of tickets .. a few 100 thou dollars shldn't matter much.
hahahaha, if we still think ICC cares much about facilitating the respective countries supporters to be in the ground.. well shldnt we think again !
Infact i would think this is more mis-leading to the fans, putting a sense of almost-certainity schedule.
As for me, the schedule with team names in "paranthesis" pure stupidity on the part of ICC. simple !
well they could have carried on to semi-finals and finals stage with the current ICC ranking with their thoughts.. none of us would buy the pay-per-views , will we
I would take this schedule if cricinfo had published, from ICC being the governing body.. shame shame puppy shame !!! ICC should think b4 they ink.. rather publish !!
cheers !

Miraz bhai what about the ranking? is it right? or i am missing something...
I have already send them the below email...
Dear Sir
From the below link you will find the schedule for WC 2007 where on the top you mention the group and the teams in those group. But to my astonishment I found that the ranking its showings for all the countries are not correct. Please provide a comment or something to tell the readers/browsers that this ranking is not current or provide the correct ranking.
I am very much disappointed to see such unprofessional acts from ICC.
Thank you

akabir bhai, the ranking was correct when the original schedule was published back in 2005.
For world cup, they are keeping the same ranking.
