Ashraful thinking of his future!
"I had consciously started slowly in the last match and plan to play the same way in the remaining matches as that approach has brought be runs in the West Indies and Zimbabwe also. I admit this is not what the crowd wants but for greater consistency I have to adapt."
Mohammad Ashraful says his paced innings in the last match was a deliberate plan.

I am happy to see that this boy is finaly starting to catch up with all the negative talks that has been going on about him recently. This is great stuffs. He should consider his own performance and place in the team first then think about the crowds. Hope he will shine more often with this sorte of attitude. After all talk is cheap, his action will show it all.
What do you guys think?

Oh! I misinterpreted the title of the thread. I thought he is thinking of retirement! I was happy until started reading the thread. He thinks it is appropriate to gloat about a laborious 50 against lowly rated blowers!
I wish he just fades way and plays club cricket somewhere far away.

The less he speaks out, the better it is for him. I don't know if he will ever realize that....
Only way he can change his reputaion is by corrcting his own action in field, not by mere promise.
He had one good innnings. Can he follow up with another good innings or two? If he can do that, then no explaination is needed. People will apreciate his effort anyway.
But if he fails, it will only reconfirm that his shortcomming and his comments will be redeculed further.
So opening his mouth serve no perpose in both ends.

Guys, keep one thing in mind, he did not change in last decade and he will not change in the next.
Take him for what he is and learn to live with that. He is always going to be like this, score in teens most of the time and give you two eids a year.
I'm OK with that, he is worth keeping in the team for that. Just learn to keep your expectation to that and everything will be fine.

Absolutely agree with above you all.....Although I honestly feel bad for Mohammad Ashraful a lot of times and even now, but I must admit that his lack of intelect, lack of basic education, self-esteem are all showing up and at the end of the day Cricket (at the level where Ashraful plays or expected to play, i.e. Test cricket/ODIs with/against Smith, Sarwan, Vaughn, Ponting, Kallis, Bond, Vettorie, Flemings,Tendulkar, Yunis, Mahela and such) is a game of intelect and above avg human intelligence that has to be combined with physical abilty and ENDLESS practice of sharpened skill.
His lack of education and intelect just comes out like a flood from a broken faucet as soon as he opens his mouth, which he does more often than ever needed! Just like our shameless failed BD politicians, Ashraful talks nonsense to a local media which themselves are flake and lack basic inteligence, and he hopes for getting by just another day!
My advice for you Mohammad Ashraful, which I know you are incapable of absorbing or comprehending, is to shut your valueless mouth and just work hard, night and day! Mentioning the crowd, it sickens me, screw the crowd you fool, bat with your life and get runs, that's your JOB, you are not a comedian, because comedians do not look pathetic which you do after most of your dismissals!
I wish Mohammad Ashraful well.

It's an OK decision. But I still want to see Ash batting in gears. Just like Tamim. He can pace his innings but when acceleration is required, I want to see Ash lose some cricket balls.

gotta agree with fazal, a "patient" knock need not have a sub-50 strike rate. ash's patient knock ended up with a decent 70 SR, and had he stuck around for the PP would have gone near 100. thats called innings building, something whcih T20 cricket lacks utterly.

Lawl, give the guy a break fellas. At least he's realised that the team is a little more important than the crowd...better late than never.
