Default Ravi Shastri wants to experiment against Bangladesh

India's newly appointed coach cum manager Ravi Shastri vowed to experiemnt against Bangladesh and wants fresh blood in the team.

Here's a report from Reuters

Quote:
MUMBAI, India, April 9 (Reuters) - India's newly appointed cricket manager Ravi Shastri is backing the infusion of fresh blood into the team following last month's early World Cup exit in the Caribbean.
On Saturday, the 44-year-old Shastri was handed the task of guiding the team for next month's tour of Bangladesh after Australian Greg Chappell resigned as coach in the wake of the World Cup debacle.
"You need to look at youth in whatever walk of life at some stage. There is a shelf-period for everything," Shastri told CNN-IBN news television channel on Monday.
India, touted favourites back home, were knocked out of the World Cup in the group phase after defeats to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, prompting several former players and fans to call for large-scale changes to the team.
The powerful working committee of the board advised the selection committee to send a young team to Bangladesh under an experienced captain on Saturday, and on the same afternoon, Rahul Dravid was retained as skipper for the next three tours.
"If you have got to experiment and try and do something, do it against Bangladesh," said Shastri, who played 80 tests and 150 one-day internationals between 1981 and 1992.
The former captain, currently a commentator with a leading sports broadcaster, was given the role on an interim basis.
Starting on May 10, the tour consists of three one-day internationals and two tests.
I hope he will stick to his decision. Time for giving them a proper hospitality at home.

Hmm, I remember the last time they tried 'experimenting' against us, it was December 26th, 2004.

Does this mean no more Tendu in the team? How about Dada? Shewag? Can Shastri say who's shelf-peroid he is talking about? why this vague statement? Patey ki asey boley falo.

The two big games we won both captains won the toss. They couldn't say we were behind the 8 ball from the start. lol.

I like Shastri -he is fair and a latteral thinker! He knows India better get used to being drubbed by Bangladesh. So, sooner you blood the new ones the better their education. Also, this way one can save the Indian legends from further humiliations meted out by the young Tigers!

Regardless of what team India sends, I expect BD to win both the ODI and Test series!

I have got a feeling that Sahstri's approach of drafting young players for BD series will backfire and that will bring another ring of changes in India cricket

Shastri is not going to experiment that much maybe a player here and there.Sachin, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Ganguly apart from Dravid will be there. These players will be playing this series as if their lives depended on it. Which might actually be the case and that could create some headache for BD. Plus the matter of business is also concerned in this series. If these players don't play, all commercials and viewing will come down.

I think as far as experimenting is concerned, Shastri will most probably give sreesanth a chance along with Pathan in the bowling dept and maybe try to bring in a new spinner in the team. Harbhajan Singh is gone. Still the pressure will be on IND and BD should try to capitalize on that, after all we don't want to much experimenting because then those idiot Indian media is going to say that they sent their A side.

We need to make sure we give them a good drubbing at least in the ODI's so that they never ever dare to try and experiment against us. They would rather experiment against the Aussies than against us, thats the kind of fear I want to instill in them with comprehensive defeats in the ODI's. However the Indian team is wounded and wounded by the tigers. So I expect them to come with akll guns blazing specially from the older stalwarts who have a thing or two to prove to Shastri and the rest of India. This would be a very interesting series and could see the rise of Bangladesh cricket in all aspects. We might get our first series win against a strong test team in this one. GO tigers, smack those ******.

Which side they send to Bangladesh really does not matter, if tigers can play their own game then there will be more wins. I found the following funny emails from my frieds. Please have a look:

Who should be blamed the most for India's disastrous showing at the
World Cup ?
Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, M S Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Robin
Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh and coach Greg Chappell were singled out by
cricket fans in TV polls.

But angry they may rightly have been, India's cricket fans did not
lose their sense of humour. Fans exchanged jokes through SMS messages.

What was the most inexplicable defeat for India in the tournament ?.

The loss to Bangladesh.

Therefore, who is to be blamed for India's defeat at the hands of its
eastern neighbour ?

Indira Gandhi.

How come ?

Because she created Bangladesh !

That's rubbish.

Bangladesh earned it's independence. No one gifted it.

Man, the timing of this series could not be worse, our whole team is going to be hung over from celebrating our first World Cup win!

i think they made the right decision. it's funny though how the other teams are copying b'desh's strategy. first rasel's slow bowling strategy, then dav whatmore as a coach, now introducing youger players. hehe b'desh rules

Let them experiment and send a bunch of amateurs to play us. Hell, if our boys don't feel like it, we should delay the series.. or say, it is not "financially viable" for us to play a bunch of nobody cricketers.
