Hopefully his reinvention makes him a more aggressive and better bowler.

Even Raz fixes his action, will he justify his inclusion...automatic pass should not be the criteria..
he should do really well in leagues...not sure whom we will drop at his expense...he definitely will strenghten our spin attack depending on his new effective action.

That's definatly my concern too. Which one of our bowlers would we drop to take Raj on the team? I liked having 3 pacers on the team to be honnest, I think it gave Ash more options to make quicker bowling changes and it worked against SL and Zim.

And Nayeem and Riyad can also bat and bowl fairly well so they shouldn't be dropped either IMO. So do we drop a batsmen or a pacer to bring Raj in?

I think Riyad is a better batsmen and Nayeem is a better bowler. But they've been doing fairly well recently so it would be tough to drop any one of them. I think Nayeem's got good potential and I probably would drop Riyad, but then our batting gets weaker. It's a pretty tough decision I think.

yes it does become a hard decision
what we should do is make the pitches totally spinner friendly and drop one of the pacers and have rubel or rasel open with mash along with shakib razzak and naeem and riyad as the part timers

that would be counterproductive for our development would only serve short term purposes - we shud develop a strong pace base as well - its important for our bowling department but also for development of our batting skill

Exactly. Spinning pitches will just hurt us. We need a variety of pitches, so that our players can have experience in a variety of conditions. That will make them better players, instead of someone who is reliant on spinning pitches, and thus would be exposed outside of South Asia (England, SA, WI).

no doubt selectors will find it difficult to fill him in.. we also have Naeem and Ryad can bat and bowl very well and Ash not far away.. one plus point for Razzaq - he is a hard hitter down the tail and we're lacking hard hitters however selectors will be more interested in all-rounder than specialised spinner.. it’s going to be tough..

Mash – 10 overs
Shakib – 10 overs
Nazmul / Rubel – 10 overs
Rasel – 10 Overs
Naeem / Ryad – 10 Overs
Razzaq ?

Razzak off to Australia
Sports Reporter

Spinner Abdur Razzak was scheduled to leave Dhaka last night for reassessment of his bowling action in Australia.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) applied to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the reassessment of the left-arm spinner's action after its bowling review group expressed satisfaction over Razzak's progress following a rehabilitation programme.

The spinner, who will be accompanied by national coach Jamie Siddons, will head to Brisbane first where he will work with specialists at Cricket Australia's Centre of Excellence to fine tune his bowling action.

The bowler will then appear for the reassessment tests at the Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) in Canberra on February 23, 2009. Member of the ICC Panel of Human Movement Specialists at the AIS Biomechanics Department Dr. Marc Portus will conduct the assessment.

The ICC in November last year suspended Razzak from bowling in international cricket pending fresh assessment after independent analysis of his bowling action revealed that his action exceeded the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under regulations.
