countdown to 354
thats what we need to avoid the follow on with 9 wickets left and 87 knocked off...the last placed test team is making slow and small incremental improvemets.
need a solid 50 from junaid and a fresh tamim should look to bat at least 2 more sessions if not the whole day. we know about riyad/rahim already...and if there continues to be no lateral movement aftab should do well against the pacers to hit his 2nd half century.

If the Tigers are still batting at the end of tomorrow, they'll have 400 and change on the board. The pitch is doing nothing, there were no signs of the New Zealand bowlers swinging it, and theres no turn either.
Add short boundaries and a fast outfield to that, and theres runs there if you avoid playing get-out shots.

Tamim is batting absolutely superb fluent way. Big Z needs to just stay with him to see the first session of tomorrow.
So, Tamim holds the key and Ash needs to deliver his yearly magic. I also expect there might be some storm from Aftab. Couple of steady knocks are also on the card from Riyad and Mushfiq.
Let's see.

Knowing our batsman's ability of self destruction, I am still in doubt of scoring 400+ combining both the innings. It only requires 20/30 minutes of madness.

Simon,
I think we will. Theres a lot of batting, the pitch is a batsman's paradise and the ball is already 15 overs old. Basically, if you dont play get-out shots, you'll get runs.

That if is the concern for us.
We have seen collapse so many times that now it is hard to hope that it is not going to happen again. Surely the pitch is offering everything to make it a drawn test. Now it is up to players to prove we can do it.

The only hesitation i have with this is that although at times our top order seems to click for example yesterday, our middle order then press the self destruct botton. All u guyz must remember the india and banglades 2nd test jus a few eeks back. At that time tamim and Z put us in such a wonderful position only 4 shakib , riyad, mushfiq and rokibul to fail. We need our whole batting line up to play to their potential. That includes a 100 + ininngs from atleast 3 individauls and a few 50's.
Inshallah, this innings will be 1 of bangladesh's greatest. By dah way does any1 know wat our highest innigs score in test cricket iz. i recall to be sumin along dah lines of 400's?

I am convinced that NZ bowlers can not take the wickets so easily. But I have big doubt that our batsmen will not press the self-destruction button.

Let's hope that players know what the game plan is and the magic number. In the 2nd test match against India, they barely missed the follow on, because 7 wickets fell for less than 30 runs, after Tamim scored so well.
I hope as hoping against hope that Siddons drill it into their heads that there are 3 more days, and their aim is to stay at least more than one more day at the crease and score more than 400 runs even if they lose, but to avoid an innings defeat.Get NZ to bat again.

I think that the India 2nd test debacle will really help the team grow. I cant see the middle order batting as irresponsibly again so soon.
I see a score of around 400 with solid contributions from everyone. That will effectively mean batting the whole day tomorrow and possibly some of the morning of Day 4. NZ will then bat the whole day and decare with a lead of around 370 on the morning of day 5. It will then require good concentraion and dilligence from the guys, but I can definitely see a very creditable draw on the horizon.

This has been the problem for last few years with our BD team. Our players dont know what they are doing for 30 mins or one hour and we loose the match. It happened over and over again. If they play like Guptill and Mcculum did i.e. block the good balls (vet)u and play other bowlers according to their merits I dont see too much of a problem avoiding follow on. Their is nothing in the pitch for the bowlers and we dont have to score at a particular rate.
Having said all that, I still doubt our players abilities to play according to the situation. Quite often we see a fall of a wicket opens the floodgate for other wickets. I dont know how long I have been waiting to see this problem goes away.
Anyhow looking forward to seeing a good fight from our tigers.

a couple of things our batsmen should think about:
Do not play Vettori like he is God of bowling, play the balls, not the bowler.
And watch for some movement in the first hour, the ball is just 17 overs old, it might do just a little bit with the moisture in the pitch.
If we can do the above, Allah knows where we may go.

While our approach yesterday was enterprising and bold it also presented NZ with chances. Tamim hit in the air more often than not and slashed one just out of 2nd slips grasp. Zunaed offered a slip catch and is very lucky to get the reprieve. A flashy century would look good on paper but it's not enough to save the game for us. We need Tamim to not only score runs but also bat time and sessions. To draw the match we have to play at least three more sessions. Nothing less will suffice. And with our propensity to implode out of nowhere, it remains a very tall order indeed.
