I agree, he shouldn't have won this year, although he played very well he wasn't the best overall performer. Last year he thoroughly deserved the award. This year seems like a marketing decision.

It's called Player of the Series not All-Rounder of the series. If that's the case then no specialist can ever win the award. As for winning the title, Shak won the MoS last year when his team didn't even make the final. It's all promotion. Shak has no stand-out batting or bowling performance this series. No 70+ scores or a 4-fer. He was definitely one of the contenders coming into the match. If he had got at least a 50 or a 3-fer today and was given the award I'd have accepted it. But as it stands I don't agree with the choice. I can think of at least three players more deserving but it boosts the company's image to have the biggest superstar in the country driving their car I guess.

i think man of the series should be mushfiq, he was batting brilliantly, excellent leadership, fighting till end and good keeping and highest dismissal. he makes average team like sylhett in top position

I would add R Ten Doeschate and Elton Chigumbura, both got their teams over the line on numerous occasions when it looked like they were going to lose

Enjoyed the match at the stadium. Would have enjoyed it more if Chittagong were not at the receiving end of such a drubbing..

I agree, I think Mushy should have gotten it. He was a standout performer. If it had to be from the winning team, then Thomas should have gotten it. 20 wickets is no joke.

by the by, I dunno if any of you noticed this but at some point in the lead up to the ceremony, the camera focused on Shakib and his wife and Shakib was making a gesture as if he was steering a car. How far in advance was he made aware of his selection as MOT? It really does seem to be a marketing ploy, just as Equinox suggested.

Lol. I had a feeling you would mention something about me. I was actually quite busy, that's why I couldn't join you guys in the match thread in the 2nd innings and my belated congratulations.
