Don't feel bad, feel proud for the good things he has done.

Lara or Inzy didn't retire under the best circumstances either. It's unfortunate, Bashar faced a similar fate. At least he faced it himself.

I've been following Bangla-cricket website since the start of the World Cup, and it hurt me deeply how people started going off at him right from the middle of the World Cup. I agree he didn't have the form even then, but I just got the feeling people just wanted to see the back of him, even though he led us to the 2nd round.Michael Vaughan never played well in ODIs but he was still there even during the WC coz he supposedly lifts the team spirit.

Same with Bashar. I don't think Bd would have done so well in the WC without being a bonded team. It's a job Bashar must have done well off the field. I think Bashar should retire now from ODIs and captaincy since he's totally lost form and confidence and control/respect of his team (apparently) but I find it totally unacceptable how some people in this forum referred to him as a pathetic loser.I mean com'on, do you think most of us could ever give to Bangladesh in any way how much he has given or gain from life how much he has got.I'd like to hear an argument from those ppl if they wish.

I still remember the days Bashar used to be criticised for being over-attacking,and for missing the centuries. I feel he still has got more to give a a batsman in Tests. And I don't think he's the one who's pathetic.

spot on .

also , as somebody has mentioned ... for the last 2 years , bashar is out of form . i would love to remind him , apart from the WC and the india series , bashar had done pretty weel for the last 2 years . and for your kind information , he has increased his overall career oneday average during this time . and how have you forgot the last test series bangladesh played before the test series with the indians . only 13 month back ... i hope 13 month do not make 2 years . 1st test , 1st day in that series ... shariar nafees and habibul bashar had the most fluent and brilliant partnership i have seen for bangladesh in test cricket .

i think having balanced and nutritious diet will sharpen your memory . thank u .

Reading that interview I feel Bashar's pain. I think he's doing the right thing. If he can fight back into the ODI side then power to him. As for the Test matches, I think he needs to resign there as well. His outs seem to indicate an indecisiveness has crept into his game. Either he's poking around or essaying overly ambitious shots. Let him forget about everyone else and worry just about his game. Perhaps then the Bangla Bradman will return. And perhaps he'll be able to walk away from the game on his own terms.

bashing the bash got way too personal at one stage... our passion combined with his defensive and rather blasé attitude with regards to the facts on the pitch, brought out the very worst in all of us. that being said, i forgive him for not converting enough of those 50's into 100s, and wish him all the best.

I don't feel sorry for someone who puts his career before the welfare of the team. Yes did step down eventually but that too after tonnes of bad performances and countless ducks. Adieu from Bangladesh team.

yeah yeah, everyone was saying bad about him, even i did as well. I was a great fan of him, but i think this is the time to step down, and let others go forward.

Time for new blood, according to START SPORT commentators.

Just when Dr. Z did us the favor by taking Basher appreciation thread off - you had to bring this on?

22.1 Mashrafe Mortaza to Tendulkar, no run, DROPPED! short of a good
length delivery, pitched in line with the off stump and moving
away a bit, Tendulkar tries to defend it and ends up with a thick
edge, Habibul Bashar at first slip fails to hang on to an easy
chance, costly miss!!

Yes it was a costly miss by Bashar. Tendulkar went on to add another 220 runs!

Smashyboy : In that case.. go check PAST tests.. we have played..he might have dropped some.. but hey.. scored most of our runs aswell.
He's our very own Micheal Vaughan.
Micheal Bashar & Habibul Vaughan

he still good enough player, and with such a young batting lineup, his experience with Ashraful is much needed. Let him go and correct a few things and he will be back hopefully. I remember he used to be called 'Mr conversion', coz he scored so many 50s but not many 100s. he still got the talent
