Bangladesh is going to lose at least 2 ODIs, if not 3.

I think Cricinfo is making up and in the process going at the other extreme.
This is Zimbabwe, not Namibia. And we didn't even sweep Namibia.

People from different countries have diffent ways of thinking. May be, BD think tank thought thats the best way to tame the Zimbabuweians. Also, we might need to say this to increase the Bd players' focus on the first game. Euphoria takes away focus, you know.

"We must try to do the things we think we cannot". - Courtesy Rafiq Bhai's article quoting Roosevelt.
I disagree with the fact that a clean sweep is not possible and that Bashar should not have high hopes.
When the last time Bangladesh won an ODI against Zimbabwe, Heath Streak, GW Flower everyone was in the Zimbabwe side. So, we beat a strong Zimbabwe team on their soil. . So, those of you who think that Bangladesh has not improved since the early days please think again and believe in the players. They have started to believe in themselves. Now it is our turn.
Taibu's claim (probably to motivate himself and his team members) that they have done well against England despite losing every single ODI against England in November-December of 2004 deserve some scrutiny. Altough I cannot override "Pagoler Shukh Monay Monay" but Taibu did make such a claim at a press conference and I felt obligated to provide statistics to the readers of this forum to counter such a claim.
Again I contend that Bashar's claim of a BD clean sweep is not unfouded. Here's Zimbabwe against England in Zimbabwe stats from November-December of 2004.
Game #1 England won by 5 wickets. Zimbabwe score was 195 all out in 49.3 overs.
Game #2 England won by 161 runs. Zimbabwe scored 102 all out in 36 overs in reply to Englands 263.
Game #3 England won by 8 wickets. Zimbabwe scored 238/7 though.
Game #4 England won by 74 runs. England scored 261 and Zimbabwe were all out for 187.

totally agree with CTazim. a couple of weeks ago this board was scrutinizing him for not being aggressive and confident enough. our team's logo is the tiger, and if we're too scared to say that we want to clean sweep someone, then i dont think we deserve that logo.

The fans can claim and expect a clean sweep.
The team can beleive they can clean sweep ZIM.
But the Captian should never claim I repeat never claim a clean sweep infront of reporter just before the series starts. He need to very very careful what he says, He need to be confident but not arrogant.
Thats not called aggressive or confident. Thats called foolishness.

Well said, Fazal.
Even it is not right for any team member to be arrogant in their words like what Ashraful did by criticizing Zimbabwe bowling in tests and finally failed to prove his own words by his batting. It's a shame.

Ashraful criticized Zimbabwe bowling? I didn't hear that - where and when did Ashraful say that?

It is okay for Naseer Hussain, Stephen Flemming, Inzamam, Shourav (later he had to eat his words , Ponting, Waugh, Lara to state that they want nothing but a clean sweep against Bangladesh, but it is not for Bashar when he has gotten a chance! And we claim cricinfo and Indian reporters are our foes!
Being a pessimist (one can claim to be pragmatic but I disagree again) is equally guilty in my book.
So, people hope and believe .
Inshallah we will have a clean sweep against Bangladesh.

The ODI series between England and Zimbabwe was closer than the scorecard suggest. In two of the ODIs, England had lost their top order with few runs on the board and then they were bailed out by Geraint Jones & co. In the third ODI, Zimbabwe had scored 238, which proved inadequate against England, but could well prove a match winning total in this series.

naa.. its not wht u think really.. it's not arrogance (I'm not sure if CrickInfo made it sound like that..) in this case... its rather a 'Reply-Challenge'
coz even Taibu has been throughing challenges to the BD team saying "Even though BD won the test series.. we r the ones who were on top at the end of 2nd test!!"
I saw Bashar's interview on tv in last's night news.. he dint sound arrogant.. but sounded like putting a fair-challenge to the opponent.. and that is quite sporty.. which happens between rival teams all the time (Eng-Aus...Ind-Pak etc.)...
What looked more impressive to me is that he & the team management targets to win the first 3 ODI's to confirm series win first... thats even a more realistic approach.. breaking down goals to smaller targets!
Best of luck to the TIGERS!!

Care 'Clean Sweep' anymore?
I guess not. Statistically it can only happen the other way!!
What will be your next prediction Mr. Bashar?
I am waiting......

I know Stephen Flemming, Stephen Flemming is a idol of mine, Mr. Bashar is Noo Mr. Flemming!
And also Bangladesh is no Australia, India or even Pakistan.
It's good to expect high, but unrealistic expection ( and claiming in public as captain) cannot bring any good to BD cricket.

Main thing is our players are not mentally strong enough. If they win any match then after that "mui ki holu ne" type attitude. Anyway in one sense I think this result is good for us.I hope they will realize that.

they scored 20/30 runs then they should...
Captancy was poor (too me )...
Tapash always does good at the last stage (90% time) and also why did he continued with rajin i don't know.
Hopefully they will learn from this. They have lost two many wkts and also drop Kapali, and razak.... The bolwing backbone was razak and what he did 50+ of 10 ov
