Default Upcoming SLAs

There was a time the future for the upcoming SLAs looked bleak as Abdur Razzak seamed to have cemented his place in the team as the specialist spinner. But now that Razzak's position in the team does not look so solid, who may be his challenger?

Suhrawadi Shuvo: A force to reckon with in domestic leagues, I don't remember Shuvo ever making an impact at levels above. He still has edge over other upcoming SLAs because of his experience at different levels.

Shaker Ahmed: Inexperienced and still very young Shaker is a total wild-card to consider at this point. He looked very promising in both U/19 and academy matches. From little I had seen of him, he seem to have necessary ingredients for an attacking spinner.

Sanjamul Islam: He is another promising SLA who has not been exposed enough yet. He does not get a regular place in Rajshahi team because they got quite a few other SLAs to consider also. But he looked promising both in SA Games T20 and in academy matches.

Saqlain Sajib: He rocked the last NCL but then disappointed me big time in A-team matches.

Mosharraf Hossain: Rafique once touted him as his successor, but Mosharraf failed to stomp his authority in domestic leagues after returning from ICL.

A non-SLA to consider -

Noor Hossain: He has somehow become the regular feature in the A-team this year. With Sabbir Rahman concentrating more on his batting nowadays, Noor currently seems to be the only specialist legspinner to consider.

Shaker and Sanjamul have brigh future. In my opinion Shaker Ahmed is already better than Razzak, Enamul jr & Shuvo.

And about Leg spiner, Noor is a GREAT prospective. Future Warne on the way of making if he can get guide from some World Class coaches.

Also, there is another LS, done well with the academy. I think its Tanvir Haider.

About Off Spinner, Mahmudul Hasan will ROCK. Have all the delivery that a offie needs to have. Another GREAT prospective.

Currently two of my most disliked cricketers are Mullah Riyad and Abdur Razzak.

Razzak's body language and fielding is just repulsive. His bowling is utter rubbish to put it mildly. The odd wickets he gets, usually, through no skills of his but because of pressure created by bowlers (Shakib) from the other end. Since his new action he has been bowling like a street cricketer, mostly, sending down the leg balls after balls. And when he isn't doing that there are rank long hops aplenty up his sleeves. In other word, a blind-folded ten year old kid with one hand tied , actually, has a better chance of landing the ball in the right areas. I would be interested to know Lalla's eco rate, ave and SR for the last twenty ODIs.

Less said about his batting the better. Then again, its not the fault of Riyad or Lalla that they get picked when they are clearly out of touch. They are in the national team to get into form, shape and improve their individual stats. We have already lost one idiot to this kind of team policy...

he has also done well for u-19s, academy and recenlty for A teams, also more suited to longer version may be.

he needs some confidence. he had some difficult matches to start with. perhaps a run in the team when the team is also doing well could help him.

i think he should play against NZ in tests in setead of razzaq. bowling in long spells in tests can give him a confidence boost.

for ODI version, i feels sanjamul could get a look soon. and serously we have to look for intrducing the off spin on Nasir and Mahmudul.

I'm more worried about the downfall of SLAs

Razzak needs to go for gd.this guy is useless nowaday. another MINOR BASHER

^^^ Razzak's ODI bowling in 2010. avg of 60, SR 69 and only 11 wk from 14 ODI. And he will still play rest of the yr....

Give youngster a chance. Bring in Noor hussain or shaker ahmed. DROP all the losers in the team...
