Welcome to BC Ramadan Quiz!

Purpose: Learn about Islam in non-serious way

The Rule is simple: I will start the Quiz by posting a question. The person who can answer it correctly will post the next question. The cycle will continue.

If no question is asked after a question has been successfully answered, anyone can ask a question.

The question must be about Islam (Quran, Hadeeth, Seerah of prophet and his noble companions etc).

I don't know the answer to your question: but here is the question for you. If I go to Antarctica, how do I fast? Do I have to fast for 6 months at a row and that will be considered 1 day of ramadan since the sun will set after 6 months?

This question has become so typical, I was having lunch in a hotel called SheeshKabab owned by an Iranian family in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. My company was my ride, a Programmer/Pastor from Dallas area. He loves to speak religion a lot and as we converse the lady, owner and cook of tremendous lamb kebabs, adjoined. Then she started arguing on Ramadan and raised the exact same question.

Why would Penguins fast in the first place?

No. Third verse of Sura Ikhlas do not have the word "Allah" in it.

Simple. You fast according to the time of a country which which isnt in Atarctica.

(Hint: when Rasulullah(SAW) died, he took out his sword and procaimed that whomever says Mohammad(SAW) is dead, I will kill him with this sword)

another hint: (the day before he became muslim RasulUllah(SAW) prayed to Allah that make either ______ or Abu Jahal enter Islam)

Why? This was not stated in the original rule. Original rule clearly states from sunrise to sunset and with no variation. Why do you need a work around that.

Penguins are not the only one in Antarctica now. A whole bunch of people live there for various reasons (scientist are a bulk part of that).

I have no problem with this except that has not been handled in the rule. What I have problem with is that no mullah is open minded enough to accept it. They will always come up with an explanation that does not follow the logic of ruling in Islam.

my philosophy: everyone should know basics...and then gradually work your way up the difficulty... even BancricFan who suppsedly taught fiqh and Arabic had trouble finding answer

Haha Rifat ... the only reason I know this answer was because my mom made me read this book about the Prophet's life during a train journey to CTG when I was in BD over the summer.

The crescent moon and star is now the universal symbol of Islam. My question is: How did this symbol come to represent Islam, and who was the figure responsible for it? Hint: He was one of the most instrumental leaders in Islamic history.

I never said it was

... just asked how it came to be associated with Islam. I know The Prophet or the early Muslim community never used this. Yet, it is the quintessential symbol of Islam today. The answer is on that page, by the way.

Q: If you complete Khatme Tarabih during the month of Holy Ramadan, how many times you would have to nod down (Sijdah) for this purpose, (general Salaat excluded - Tarabih only)

Yep, it was Osman I of the Ottoman Empire. Saw it in a dream, apparently.
