Imrul should be dropped from the Test team. He is fine in OD.

Mash will not play Tests anymore.

we dont have any test match sometimes soon. but my line up will be

tamim
kayes
junaid
jahurul/ rokibul (i want to drop him from ODI, 20/20)
mahmudullah
shakib
mushfiq rahim
shohrawadi shuvo (i think he will be lethal in this format, his batting and bowling)
naeem/enamul haq jr
shahadat/shafiul
rubel

i think with this combo, we can beat any team in our day with 100% effort

Problem with me is that i keep ignoring Shahadat Hossain, true that this guys is not the best bowler sometimes, but my word, he has been the best Test Pacer Bangladesh has produced 'till date, he has records against fierce batting lineups to back him up

Naeem Islam can also be a very good test batsmen if he get's his form back

Rakibul has some good scores against decent opposition in the past, consistently too. that too with a good strike rate(when he was on song) I think he needs a little bit more time to get back on form!

it's just that Retirement decision is why he is so unpopular in BanglaCricket.

And rightly so. Playing international cricket is no joke. We can't afford to have these - to use Sohel bhai's term- prima donnas in the team. Eishob dhong, bhonita, nokta...bhaal lagche na ajke....khelte iccha korche na... should get be gotten rid of. Heck he should've been dropped wayy earlier and Jahirul given a chance in the last few ODIs.

Imrul kayes
SN/JS
Jahurul
Riyad
Mushy
Shakib
Naeem/Shuvo
Shuvo/Razzak
Shahadat
Rubel/Shafiul

now it depends on where we are playing.if we play in the subcontinent, this would be my line-up.but if it is in say australia,i would switch naeem or razzak, depending on their form, with shafiul/rubel.so basically we will be playing with 3 pacers...

We played ODI matches against Nz not tests. There is no point of making test 11 on the basis of ODI form.

Sorry to differ with you my dear brother Rifat. He is over hyped for his single 300+ score in NCL. People don't notice one thing. In 35 matches in first class he has crossed 100 mark only 2 times. His number of 50+ innings is also small, 10 out of 63 first class innings. So we cannot say that he has a tendency of playing longer inning.

Low strike rate and inability to score doesn't make some one a batsman with good techniques. You can check his stats as follows...

Batting and fielding averages

Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 4s 6s Ct St
Tests 7 14 0 268 65 19.14 634 42.27 0 1 34 1 7 0
ODIs 46 45 6 1154 89 29.58 1884 61.25 0 7 93 6 15 0
T20Is 5 5 0 51 18 10.20 62 82.25 0 0 3 1 1 0
First-class 35 63 2 1932 313* 31.67

2 10

26 0
List A 78 77 10 2268 133 33.85

2 15

22 0
Twenty20 10 10 0 148 43 14.80 144 102.77 0 0 12 4 2 0

The stats no way talks in his favor at present as a good batsman. I wish him all the best so that he improves from current mediocre condition.

My team:
  • Tamim Iqbal: The best possible opener who has the ability to destroy any bowling attack and only BD batsman to have 40+ test average.
  • Junaid Siddique: He used to have problems with temperament which is still there. But he has been working hard to improve temperament and techniques. I am taking him a partner of Imrul Kayes because Imrul is totally crap in longer version, not only in tests but also in first class (Imrul averages 17.42 in 13 tests and 25.64 in 35 first class matches).
  • Jahurul Islam: A good potential batsman who can both defend and attack depending on the situation demands. A very experienced first class cricketer who has almost 4 thousands first class runs (3953 runs) in 66 first class matches at an average of 36.26.
  • Nazimuddin: I want to have a go with this "so far unsuccessful international" batsman. He is pretty much senior among Bangladeshi batsmen and have excellent experience under his belt. Scored 4369 runs in 70 first class matches at 38.32. He definitely deserves another chance.
  • Mushfiq Rahim: He is someone who could achieve a lot more than what he did as a batsman if handled properly. His only weakness as a batsman is little vulnerability with incoming fast deliveries which makes him candidate for LBW or bowled. Other than that he is just a fine batsman who can defend and attack depending on situation.
  • Shakib Al Hasan: "Attack is the best defense", this sentense describes this boy. After a period of bad patch he is among runs again.
  • Mahmudullah: He got the ability. He just needs to apply that ability to stop the rumor about being a selfish cricketer.
  • ????(A genuine leggie): Don't know whom.
  • Shafiul Islam: He can bat with straight bat and is a potential pacer.
  • Shahadat Hossain: Our test pacer so far.
  • Rubel Hossain: RBX.

Wow Nazimuddin? Without even giving a chance in the ODIs?

And while a good leggie might seem good on paper (in terms of variations) I'd rather have 2 SLAs rather than 1 mediocre leggy and 1 good SLA.

If you check you will see Nazimuddin got impressive first class record. His list A record is not that good.

I can go with 2 leggies. But the title says ideal test team for now. Even for now I couldn't buy the idea of two SLAs.

Prothom-Alo Link: PM's gifts for the tigers

The gist of the article for ppl who cant view the link, PM promised to give out 1 plot & 1 car to every member of the squad for the NZ success...

Just one thing came to my mind right away... are you effing kidding me....????
Just when we were basking in the glory of how professional our team has become and while we celebrate every small success of the team... this gift galore reminds me of the ICC 97 era....

Shakib is the only one who deserves this, heck... give him 2 plots and 2 cars, but the entire squad ???? Wasnt it just yesterday Lotus Kamal said this time BCB is handling this very professionally, and the players will only get the bonus pay as per the contract.

Anyway I am probably overreacting, and Shakib's son will start playing for Bangladesh before he gets that plot (they are still waiting for the money promised after the West Indies series) .... but I wonder how professional does 'shosta' things like these make us...

PM is a politician, so she will do her politics. That's how Bangladesh runs.

Some times I just regret that I should have played cricket seriously. If some how I could have been a member of the team, then amare ar pai ke!!!

Its our first series win against a strong team no doubt but to give out 1 car 1 plot is just too much.
