Default New Zealand Squad for Bangladesh Series 2008/09

New Zealand in Bangladesh 2008-09
Ryder in New Zealand Test squad

Jesse Ryder is in line for a possible Test debut after earning a call-up into the 15-man New Zealand squad for their two-Test tour of Bangladesh. However, there was no place for James Marshall, Peter Fulton or Michael Mason, all of whom were in the group that toured England this year.
Aaron Redmond retained his place in the Test squad despite the disappointment of making only 54 from his six innings in England, where he made his debut. But the removal of Marshall and Fulton from the list of top-order options means Ryder has every chance to add a Test cap to his five ODI appearances.

Test squad Jamie How, Aaron Redmond, Ross Taylor, Daniel Flynn, Jesse Ryder, Jacob Oram, Brendon McCullum (wk), Gareth Hopkins (wk), Grant Elliott, Daniel Vettori (capt), Kyle Mills, Tim Southee, Iain O'Brien, Jeetan Patel, Chris Martin.

ODI squad Jamie How, Brendon McCullum (wk), Scott Styris, Ross Taylor, Daniel Flynn, Jesse Ryder, Jacob Oram, Gareth Hopkins (wk), Grant Elliott, Daniel Vettori (capt), Kyle Mills, Tim Southee, Mark Gillespie, Jeetan Patel, Chris Martin.

I hope Brendan Mccallum is not allowed to humiliate the team as what he did the last time in NZ>
He went beserk in the first IPL game for the kolkatta night riders, but after that the opposing teams tried and got him out quickly.

I have a feeling that BD will perform better. Actually in the last 2 test matches they played in NZ, they did a much better showing than playing against SL and South Africa. They did not allow any batsman to score a century, did not have to toil long and hard in the field, and they are playing on home soil. Playing in SA will be the challenge.

Only place I think Brendon McCallaum may score a lot of run is Chittagong the pitch there is too flat and batsmen (except BD batsmen) easily score double hundreads in Test.

I hope the groundsmen will prepare a better wicket So that attacing player like McCullum will think twice before cutting loose.

I agree that this is a very strong NZ side. Last time Ryder, Elliot and Southbee were not in the squad.
I hope Aftab and Raqibal will be fit, also Rahim, no one has said anything about Rasel, but I hope he is fit to play in the ODIs.
NZ is now the the 4th ranking team for ODIs, and 6th in Tests, so they are a very strong side and their fielding is about the best.

Ryder vows 'no more stuff-ups'

Quote:
Ryder said there would be no chance he would touch alcohol during the Bangladesh tour. "There will be nothing, I won't be [drinking]," he said. "I'll stick to what has been sorted for me by my support crew. Just one day at a time."
Some one please offer him Bangla

I guess BD will go for dead pitches, just to give a chance to our players to score over 200.

NZ bowler Martin to miss Bangladesh ODI series

WELLINGTON, Sept 24 (Reuters) - A nagging hamstring injury has forced New Zealand paceman Chris Martin out of next month's one-day international series in Bangladesh.
New Zealand Cricket general manager Lindsay Crocker said Martin had injured himself playing county cricket in England and would be replaced on the tour by Michael Mason.
"While he was able to fully contribute to their most recent four-day match, we have come to the conclusion his longer term interests are best served by him cutting short his obligations at Warwickshire, returning home for full treatment and rehabilitation before hopefully being able to head to Bangladesh to take full part in the test series," Crocker said.
New Zealand are scheduled to play three one-day internationals in Bangladesh from Oct. 9-14 before the first of their two tests starts on Oct. 17.

Strengthened Southee eyes Bangladesh

Newstalk ZB - September 24, 2008, 3:13 pm
Pace bowler Tim Southee has stacked on muscle and developed strength as he looks to bear down on batsmen in his second cricket season with the Black Caps.
The New Zealand players are gradually reassembling as they get ready to leave for Bangladesh at the end of the month.
Southee has been busy at the gym in the break. The 19-year-old has has also been working the sheep on his family farm in Northland, including helping out with docking lambs.
The subcontinent is now familiar territory for Southee. In the past he has spent a fortnight in Chennai at the Dennis Lillee Academy as well as Sri Lanka for the under-19 World Cup in 2006.
Chris Martin is out of the one-day side for Bangladesh with a hamstring injury and Michael Mason replaces him. Jacob Oram has suffered a minor calf strain which he is still playing on at this stage.

Not a bad squad for NZ but we need a breakthrough this series as we havent performed lately. Time for us to put our name back on the map.

I think it's a good move to let the player to have a break on Eid.

indeed they should have break but 4 days come on. And when they come back they have to share the training facility with NZ squad.
