Default Manju The Man

Just kidding.

Manjural Islam (LHB) 6 2 0 0 300.00

Played two balls and scored 3 runs on each ball. Our weakest batsmen ? I think not, compare this to Sumon (3 off 8 balls).

If a batsman like Pilot (god bless his soul for the many times he saved us from complete humiliation - about time he moves himself up) can play over an hour, how come Sumon can't play atleast half the time ? *sigh*

Default Manju the real man

Manjural Islam (LHB) 11 10 1 0 110.00
I say we play him at number 3. If he fails, it's Manju, he could care less but atleast he won't be all nervous about scoring like Bulbul and Sumon does.

Then again, Sumon is going to do some major damage with his occasional spin and will send the Indies fielders on a ball chase in the second innings. His 83 will be one of his favorite performances. As always, Sumon will fail to turn it into a hundred but another mystery player will go on to score a hundred and NO, it won't be Monju (it'd be funny though - it would even make Saqlain's 101* sound like a regular event).

Of course, the down side is, Manju will fail to take a single wicket and the selectors will take him as a 'specialized opener' for the next test and maybe even the world Cup.

WEST INDIES TAKE CONTROL OF THE CHITTAGONG TEST

Bangladesh are struggling at 149/7 at tea on the first day of the second and final Test against West Indies at Chittagong. Skipper Khaled Mashud is putting up a brave fight with an unbeaten 19, and giving him company is Tapash Baisya (1*). The post-lunch session clearly belonged to West Indies fast bowlers, as the plucked out four more wickets, giving away just 61 runs.

The fourth wicket partnership between Ashraful and Sanwar Hossain yielded 64 runs, before a stunning catch by Powell at covers got rid of Ashraful (28). Hossain (36) was caught behind off Jermaine Lawson’s bowling in the following over. The batsman in form Alok Kapali could make only two runs; Gayle caught him at first slip off the bowling of an impressive Pedro Collins.

Enamul Haque (8) hung around for a while, before falling to the speed and bounce of Lawson; caught on the rebound at second slip by Marlon Samuels. Mashud has so far looked confident against the pace attack, and it would take a lion-hearted effort from the skipper to help Bangladesh post a score of 200.

Default Why ?

60.4 Drakes to Khaled Mashud, no run, again pitched up outside the off stump, driven hard to the cover region, a good diving stop by Sarwan saves a certain four

Default Ghapla

If the guy is wearing a helmet, we need to take a look under it and make sure they didn't send someone else out there:

Manjural Islam (LHB) 21 21 2 0 100.00

61.2 Collins to Manjural Islam, three runs, played to the vacant long-on region

(I sure do enjoy posting to myself)

Default So close

Just needed to hang in there for 2 more overs and we could have gone past 200. *sigh*

Last Wicket: 189/9 (62.2 ov); Partnership: 36 runs, 8.4 overs, RR: 4.15
Khaled Mashud c Sarwan b Drakes 32 (125m 93b 3x4 0x6) SR: 34.41

Pilot is a very brave man. Wish we could clone him and build up the whole batting line-up with him. 93 balls, that speaks volumes for the mans commitment where the rest just tried to wing it.

Default records

manju posted his highest test score for whatever it's worth. pilot was one shy of his highest (33) and got himself out unnecessarily instead of guiding the team to 200 and helping himself to a much deserved 50. he was all set and manju was a better partner than tapash. too bad, there were several rash outs today. it could have been 250-300 otherwise.

Default Time to bite back ?

6.4 Manjural Islam to Sarwan, no run, beauty! good length delivery on the off and moving away from the right hander, brings Sarwan forward, again beaten

Default sure, 250-300

sure, batsmen who scored above 20 all took time to get set much better than first test. then they played rash shots to get out. but really if it had not been for pilot and manju the score would have been much worse.

sorry just felt like doing that. I think before South Africa (where Monju got 11) his highest first class score was 9

Monju also took four runs with Pilot by running between the wkts.
