Bangladesh Cricket League 2013-14 commences 12 Jan.

The Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) 2013-14 starts 12 January 2014. The first two rounds of the four-team competition will be held between 12-21 January before the franchisee-based first class tournament breaks for Sri Lanka’s Tour of Bangladesh, the Asia Cup and the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014. The remaining round and the final will be held at a later date.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Acting Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said: "As a very select group of cricketers appear in this premier event therefore the franchisee representatives have requested the BCB to ensure the participation of the maximum number of national cricketers. That is why the third round and the final will be held at a convenient time when all the top cricketers are available."

The itinerary and other details of the BCL 2013-14 will be announced shortly.

Great! Much needed practice for before the important series against SL. Hope Each and every single nats players participate. Holidays shouldn't be allowed to ANYONE!!!!

Should we play 3 spinner like we did against NZ? Mind you SL are one of the best team of playing spin.


Or, should we play 3 seamer( do we even have 3 decent test pacer for test)? Then again, we are likely to waste one of them and will give away 5+ runs per over.

Or, should we bring back Riyad for number 8? Then we will have only 4 bowler and but long batting line up.


Lots to think about for selectors/captain. Hope they chose the best decision that would bring a positive result for us.

Great news! This should be good practice before 2 tough Tests against the Lankans. Hope the regulars and the fringes take advantage and score big.

So the Test squad so far is,

8. Gazi
9. Robiul

11. TBD

So 4 of the spots in the XI are open and so are the 3/4 spots on the bench. So it's important that the openers and the contenders for the #3 spot perform well. As for the bowlers, it's a very open competition and the 3 best pacers and the best spinner should be selected from these matches.

I am not sure how good idea is that to play T20 before test match with SL, most player will be in T20 mode when they play test match.

BCL matches are 4-day first-class level matches, not T20.
