most talented BD batsmen

who do you think are the most talented bangladesh batsmen out there? this includes all levels, domestic, and int'l.

so far only 2 make my list:

nafees iqbal and mohammad ashraful

do u guys think that nafees is as talented as ash, more talented, or less???

Nafis needs to work on his footwork a bit. He is young and I think with work he will get better.

BD needs new talent.

Bangladesh have enough talented players. Its the conversion rate (of turning talent to performance) that we don't have and need.

The point of the matter is that only on talent, we can compete with the best in the world, but that talent has to come with patience, determination, commitment and a big heart. Unfortunately, all the above combinations are not seen in all the talented players all at once.

If somebody is talented, hard working, and determined, then the patience is not there; if somebody is hardworking, determined, committed and patient, other virtues are missing.

Which all results in inconsistent performance on the part of the players.

(fill in the blank who was scoring brilliant runs in other places, but the moment he was put in the int'l team.. he started behaving weird.. n started scoring 2-9 consistantly!)

Every one is talented batsman. Bolwlers like Tapash Kumar, Mashrafee-bin-Murtaza, Enamul Haque etc. are talented batsmen as well.

BD doesn't really have a bunch of raw genuin by-born-batting talents who can be called real master.. but what we got is prtty much potential.

these guys can be converted to a combined match-winning team (not match winning players in each of them).. but something is very much wrong with the 'Conversion Process' as a whole

Most of our current batsmen are not product of high-grade club cricket... I think that surely has something to do with their shakyness in big matches.

Talent in the current squad is Ashraful, Kapali, Hannan. Rajin is hard worker, Nafis plays a lot of airy shots as far as i can recall, and he's not sure about his footwork!
Talent in the old squad- Bulbul and i thought Akram Khan too with the ease that he used to play and Athar with his sure foot movements!

Free as it is to express opinions, we tend to enjoy a wide sway about what each of us mean by talent. I retain to define it as an exposure of instinctive aptitude to something, which is cricket as in our discussion. Of course it can only be experienced through an extent of exposure, though it might be there even if there is no exposure. But since we are not talking ideas, we cannot dispose the importance of exposure.

Greatness is manifested by the achievment earned by blending talent and hard work. In general, some (a lot, that is) of both should be there. If someone is short of paramount talent, he may be able to make that good with hard work.

Now hard work, or for that matter work in general, tantamounts to assumed physical and mental skills through adaptive learning process. Since work is one multiplying factor, there should be non-zero work to have a minimum exposure of the talent.

Since this thread was supposed to be all about talent, my thought is this: to get the measure of talent, one way might be, generally speaking, to take the 'work' part out of the achievment of each player, and to see what he is left with.

In my opinion, (given the thoughtlessness that he displays in his play (and after-play)) Basher's achievement may easily single out the superiority of his talent. His failure to reign his instinct might have doomed the team this (and some other, if any) series, but (or may be for this very reason), it goes to manifest his talent anyway. Now, whether we care or not for non-yielding talent, is a whole different story.

Ashraful would come next, in my opinion. And probably Rafique, Nafis, Kapali, Hannan etc. Among these bunch, hard work has given Rafique a fine edge towards the 'idea of greatness'. On the other hand, incidental factors like 'lean patch', 'lost form', 'mental block' etc have worked against offering better exposure of talent for Kapali and Hannan.

Mashud, Rana and Taposh could be categorized into the one that is overly returned by their vocation to 'hard work' part. And Rajin is on the verge of missing this clique, again possibly due to those foretold incidental factors.

Success = Talent X performance

If performance = 0
then Talent cannot be determined
Hence the statements that A or B or C is the most talented is an exercise in futility in the absence of Success which depends on performance.

I now agree with a thread about a batsman hunt programme just like the grameen bowler hunt programme- in fact we should continue such programmes all over the country!
