Default What do you expect against SL?

I don't know what you guys expect but I only want to see a fight from our team.

But team management still think they can beat SL and they seem confident

This is what I expect:

A 150+ score from our batsmen (below 180 though) irrespective of whether we bat first or last, and at least a 100 run or 8 wicket loss.

bd performance against a new born child HK: unimpressive and middle order is so lame.

bd performance against a disordered pakistan: could not even have a registance and batting is like a associate team.

bd performance against toothless indian bowling: horrible. with that bowling lineup bd got out below 180, keep that in mind.

and after all that with a balanced and high confident srilanka team we do not have any chance of any kind of fight.

i would like to be wrong. but, sory don't see it.

i'm getting ready for another humiliation.

Default I am dreaming of an individual hundred.....

With apologies to Bing Crosby. Otherwise, I cannot see how we can get to the magical 250.

By the way 7 overs of [ slow ] spin in the first 15 overs is a good idea. Our bowlers are better than Dipak Patel. In fact, if the ball does not swing in the first two overs, even Tapash should be taken off until after the 15th.

Batting first:

Our openers need to negociate Vaas' cunning swing bowling. If we can somehow cross him without much damage I predict a 230+ score. There will be 2 50+ scores.

Batting second we will probably get 220 all out (assuming SL scores more than that )

Overall, call me foolhardy, but I would say we will have our best shot yet at winning a match against the big ones.

Did we play Sri Lanka after the last World cup debacle? I am scared to remind myself of what Vaas did in that first over!

My heart (that has repeatedly been wrong) says we can beat Sri Lanka.

My head says: Not yet.

I will go with any team that we chose for tomorrow’s game. Like someone said before, it does not seem to make a difference one way or the other. And also like so many others have said, all that I want is a good fight. That, to me means if we can’t win, I hope we lose by less than 30 runs or so or by less than 3 wickets or so.

But that is only my wish.

Default What do you expect against SL?

We have yet to win a toss!!

What I think we should do if we are to win a toss is put them into bat irrespective of the conditions. If we can apply them with pressure and our bowlers together click then maybe, just maybe we can restrict them to a low score.

Hopefully this would reduce the pressures off our gentle and fragile batsmen, but this may still be asking a lot, consiering Sri Lanka are soo far the top team in this competition albeit playing in their homesoil.

But we have to play our natural game and just aim high.

- Coaches, across the borders are known for their pre-game bravados, hypes etc. to get their guys pumped up and hopefully to have an effect on the opposition as well.

Given the BD record and more importantly that of SL in this tournament, and assuming that the article in Bengali newspaper is true; it seems to me that BD management must have membership to some exclusive premium grade cannabis club and utilzing their privileges fully to make such prediction!!

Then again, I wouldn't mind if I find my foot in my mouth for the above statement either.

In that case he would say BD will beat India in next match.

Well the coach won't show vocal support and belief for his team who will? They really need to have confidence in their abilities to put up a proper fight. They can't just give up because the opposition is too strong.

Guys, just bet five bucks on BD, just in case there is an upset, it will be biggest one ever, and you will be rich.

I agree there is nothing wrong with that. It's just that it's a great position shift for Whatmore - who (not too long ago) was saying we're not concerned about winning or losing - we just want individual improvements

Default shouldn\'t have any high expectations

plain and simple...no high expectations
lankans are top favorite and they are on top
a decent fight will be highly desirable
we need to do more homeworks on toporder and also pace bowling after we come back from lanka.

Well I can understand why Dav is talking about beating Pakistan…They r playin much worse than a club side at the moment ‘n I just hope they play the same way and run between the wickets the same way (!) as they did against Srilanka…..But Srilanka will be a tough nut to crack..They r the hottest side at the moment…

If BD openers can surving Zoysa and Vass opening spell then we have 50/50 chance.

I desperately hope BD batsmen learned how to survive opening spell from last few mistakes. I would say - dont drive for first 2/3 overs unless it's an absolutely juicy half volley. Once you get urself settled and start seeing the ball well start playing regular games. Don't carried away after hitting 2/3 fours.

They don't learn, do they?
If they did, it could be a different picture a long ago.

I could be wrong.... but Bangladesh seems to perform better when they aren't expected to, like today. Put them up against canada, hong kong or a petulant pak side and they (BD) will make it look harder than it should be. I like billah's suggestion of $5 on BD, i actually have 5 bucks left in my bet365 account... i'm going to go for it.

BD will beat pakistan, who r playing like minnows now.

i dont c too much hope against sl. at best what bd can hope is to get 1 point out of the match, but chances for that look slim

prediction:

sl bat 1st: sl 280/8, bd 195 all out
bd bat 1st: bd 203 all out, sl 204/4
