I do remember that. That was something.. To be honest I wanted him to be our national head coach.
I think he visited BC during BPL and congratulated Ian.

একাডেমির দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত বিসিবি পরিচালক গাজী আশরাফ হোসেন জানিয়েছেন, ম্যাকিন্স দায়িত্ব নেবেন জুলাইয়ের প্রথম সপ্তাহ থেকে। স্ত্রী-সন্তান নিয়েই বাংলাদেশে আবাস গড়ার ইচ্ছা তাঁর। রিচার্ড ম্যাকিন্স সর্বশেষ ক্রিকেট অস্ট্রেলিয়ার উইমেন্স উইংয়ের প্রধান কোচ হিসেবে কাজ করছিলেন।

Great.........Richard McInnes back to Bangladesh!! The fitness and mental toughness that we now see in our new generation cricketers can be traced back to its root in the first McInnes era of 2003-05. Delighted!

I'm even more exited to know this news than about our head coach (no offense to our head couch though). It's just that I always liked Richard McInnes. And finally he's coming back.
Now we'll have a lot more players in the pipeline, I'm hoping of course!

Man, this is such an exciting time for bd cricket:

- Our last series was one of the best tournament performance in bd cricket history.
- We have a great guy as a head coach.
- Excellent support staff (not well known but you just have to follow their twitter feed to see how comitted they are)
- Now we have McInness, someone I have been waiting for to come back for a long time.
- Over-eager, big spending new sponsor.
- BPL was not too bad either.

All these happened under a truly horrible BCB head.

Now I hope to see McInnes and pybus working together to script the future of BD cricket.

Wanna add that I would have preferred to have pont somewhere in the coaching setup or even as a head of a fast bowling national academy of sorts - but I think at this point its unlikely to happen. We have to carry on with what we have.

With regard to Richard, this is a very good appointment. Richard and I have chatted a few times about Bangladesh Cricket and his return is indeed very welcome.

What's interesting is that the things he spoke about in the matrix article (effectively identifying the issues in Bangladesh cricket) are still uncorrected after 8 years. This to me would be his starting point and ensure that the CULTURE of cricket changes forever and for the best. It really is time for the blame game and excuse culture to stop so BD cricket can flourish and not keep falling backwards after false dawns.

As with any changes that he, or the new head coach, bring in, the players have to "buy in" to those changes. Firstly, they have to not complain about them to board members and accept that professional coaches know what they are doing.

IMO the thing that destroys progress more than anything else is when players have too much power and can undermine what a coach is trying to achieve.

It looks like all the jigsaw pieces have fallen into place, It is now down to the players themselves to make the difference.

It is all about accountability. If a players say that his balance when batting is poor, and 6 months later his balance is still poor, then I have to ask questions. Initially of myself: was what was I doing to help him? Secondly of the player: did he do the work to improve that area? If he didn't do the work, then you can question his desire to actually get better. Maybe he is happy with his standard. On the other hand, if I could see the players was making an effort, than I need to try a different technique to help him. Hopefully I would have noticed a lack of progress earlier than 6 months.

Performance Analysis - runs scored, partnerships, 1st v 2nd innings runs, etc
Technical skills - back lift, grip, balance etc.
Tactical skills - shot selection, reading game situation, decision making etc.
Mental skills - concentration, body language, pain tolerance etc.
Physical skills - speed between wickets, endurance, ability to bat for long periods, power, ability to hit over the top, ability to dominate bowlers etc.
