Bengal Tigers - unofficial fan club???
Quote:
Another feather in Rafique's cap
Just a couple of days after being adjudged the Best Bowler and All-Rounder at the Bangladesh Cricket Awards night, Mohammad Rafique was voted Cricketer of the Year at the Partex Bengal Tigers Cricket Awards yesterday. The ace left-arm spinner received 213 votes to beat his national teammates Shahriar Nafees, Habibul Bashar, Shahadat Hossain Rajib and Mohammad Ashraful.
Nafees, who received second highest 179 votes, had notched Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) Best Batsman and Cricketer of the Year awards on Wednesday night. Bashar came third with 169 votes.
Former national captain Akram Khan announced the name of the winner after another ex-national captain Aminul Islam Bulbul had introduced the nominees on the beautifully decked stage at the NSC conference room yesterday.
BCB vice-president and Partex Group vice-chairman Aziz Al Kaiser Tito handed over a crest and a cheque of Tk 25,000 to Rafique in presence of the country's cricket fraternity. National coach Dav Whatmore and cricket board officials were also present.
Bengal Tigers -- the unofficial fan club of the Bangladesh cricket team -- organised the show with its members, ex national cricketers, all BCB standing committee chiefs, umpires, match referees and sports journalists voting the five nominees on the basis of their international performance in 2005-06 season.

I thought banglacricket is THE unofficial fan club/fan site. Bengal Tiger can be "a" unofficial fan club of BD cricket team. May be we are the official fan club/fan site.
Anyways, Congrats to Rafique.

Bangla Tiger = unofficial fan club.
Bangla Cricket = official fan club.
What's there not to understand?

BanglaCricket should be given some recognition by BCB/TigerCricket. As far as I'm concerned, this is the largest and most dedicated community of BD supporters.

According to Jaijaidin, this is a club of BCB members/employees. They are seen around the team when the team is on overseas tours, but nowhere to be seen during home serieses. A club of dedicated fans indeed

The culture of 'Online community' or 'Online Forums' is still quite an alien Idea in BD..and that not just in cricket... rather in any sector. People in BD(except the very new generations) are far less connected to the net for their everyday informations or activities. This is even true for a major share of the youth in BD. So it's nothing surprising that the huge and active and dedicated group of BC fans often goes unnoticed when it comes to these sort of recognitions. I guess we have to wait untill a considerably large 'internet-culture' evolves in BD itself.

I agree Ahmed Bhai. But still I m wondering how many of BC member is also member of that club. Dont tell me that nobody has access to net or BC is unknown. BC is regulerly mention in cricinfo and BBC as fan site of bangladesh Cricket. Rather I would agree with Watcher "They are seen around the team when the team is on overseas tours, but nowhere to be seen during home serieses"
