Default Olympic and Athens

A 14-member Bangladesh contingent left Dhaka on Tuesday) night for Athens to take part in the 28th Olympic Games, begins on August 13, reports UNB.

But contingent member athlete Shamsun Nahar Chumki was dropped from the squad in the dying moment due to her illness.

A three-member first batch of the 17-member Bangladesh contingent, led by BOA acting Secretary General Kutubuddin Ahmed, left Dhaka for Athens Sunday night, accompanied by two participants of the youth camp -- Mohaimenul Islam Shihab and Rafia Raushan Reshmi.

Bangladesh sprinter Shamsun Nahar Chumki, who made all arrangements to fly for Athens with the continent, was forced to cancel the trip at the eleventh hour, as she was found sick during the final checkup on Saturday. Doctors advised her to take rest for 2-3 three weeks.

The number of sportsmen in the Bangladesh squad has further reduced to only four in absence of Chumki, who was scheduled to compete in the 100-metre sprint.

Four Bangladeshi sportsmen -- shooter Asif Hossain Khan, athlete Mohammed Shamsuddin, swimmer Dolly Akhter and Jewel Ahmed — will compete in three disciplines out of 28 sports of the Olympic games, the biggest sports show on earth.

Commonwealth and SAF Games gold winning shooter Asif Hossain Khan will compete in his favorite 10-metre Air Rifles, athlete Mohammad Shamsuddin in the 100-metre sprint and swimmer Jewel Ahmed in the 50-metre free style.

Dolly Akhter, who was disqualified in the Sydney Olympics Games in 2000 due to fault start, will compete in the 100-metre breaststroke.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh swimmers and athletes received intensive training for one and half months at High Performance Training Centre in Thailand. The swimmers also received a 25-day training in China. Shooter Asif Hossain Khan was groomed for about seven weeks at the German Olympic Association shooting range.

It's on the junket, dude. And lest you forget, it's Bangladesh. I have been reading about this since my birth. That means for the last 6 olympics.

I think that is it.
What else do you expect from three athletes?

Anyway, all I gat to say about that 100-meter sprinter is wow. What is he thinking?
Here is what I think. If he gets a head start for 50- meter he still would finish last. :embaressed:
