The Verdict
i was genrally encouraged with the performace that our boys put in bareing the west indies game, i think we got a lot of praise and good remarks from around the cricketing world and we showed that we can compete with the best on a more regualr basis than in previous years

Since my expectation was high, I thought we could beat WI, at least we started that way (95/1), therefore, I was dissapointed. My final Verdict.

There were lots of unfinished business:
1.Bashar's Captancy and Batting form
2. Ashfraful's bat/run patch
3. Pilot's keeping and batting (22 of 59 against WI; should I complain?)
4. Mashree's bowling in the slog overs
5. Rasel's line-length
6. Multi-skilled youngsters's bowling against big teams
7. Opening pair (musical chair/ merry-go-rounds)
8. SIngles/doubles for rotating the strikes and so on.
I grade our performance C+ !
Utterly disappointed with our bowling effectiveness: We are the only team so far (10/16/06) who has given 302 runs in an innings in this Tournament and Could not take a wicket while defending 160 against WI. Win against Zimbos should not give us any complacency.

I think Bangladesh now achieved a Good Team Standard value against Weak team like Zimb and Kenya. I am certain that Zimb and Kenya now scare about BD.
But if you talk about other teams (big Team), we are still a very far away from the standard.
The main weakness of our team is:
a) A poor Captain
b) A poor WK
c) 1 poor opening Partner (without Nafees)
d) 1 strike Bowler (Partner of Mashrafee)
If we recover those surely we will be a good team soon. I am optimistic.

Yeah..we need good name for our legendary captain.
Actually, just taking Habibul's 'Ha' and Bashar's 'Ba', we can get Haba/হাবা, which is perfectly matching with his behaviour(গোল্লার ফ্রেন্ড হিসাবে গোবা যোগ করে দিলেই - হাবাগোবা).Hablu is good too!!

It was yet again disappointing, in term of batting consistency. Bashar should look for a new job, he is done.

I was kinda a upset when you BD lost to Zim by scoring so few runs. That was simply one of our worst performance.
But, now looking at other teams getting out in the low hundreds, i feel like forgiving bangladesh. i was also heartened by our performance in the game against Zimbabwe.

Okay guys...I know everyone will kill me if I say this. I think we did better...and we're doing better each time. I know the CT was full of surprises...but do u know one thing? Bangladesh has the second highest score so far in the CT. I thought it'll be killed today by SA and NZ...but if SA can be bowled out for 108, what did we do wrong? I know that BD players are more familiar with this pitch...but kothay bole na? Nachte na janle uthan baka? I think it's more of that this time.
So, even though I thought we SHOULD have won against WI, we did better than many other teams. At least, we weren't bowled out for 80. If you make a comparative judgement, yes we did better...if you make an absolute judgement...no, we weren't upto the mark that we would have liked to be.

Mine too. But still disappointed with HB's captaincy and Mash's death bowling

Why there was no option that "we played horrible and it's alarming for us before worldcup"?
I was criticized for complaing about our team and recent over hyped mania of some of the fans here. I didn't indeed to attack personally but just wanted to inform the state of our team, which is true and realistic.
Even few days ago, there were threads stating we will be in second round in CT and will be playing top teams. Members over here were mentioning so many things about Masrafee and Rasel, that we got the right pair for worldcup, even comparing Rasel with Vaas!!! and Masrafee with McGrath!!! Mash is good no doubt about it, but how much he can do by himself especially there will be obviously performance issue after the marriage. Rafique has line and length but sometimes the bowling is toothless, Razzaq did ok but similar bowling pattern is very predictable.
Farhad will be really expensive in Worldcup and it was visible against lanka and WI.
And batting don't want to mention beside SN, none of them learnt from their mistakes and we are on the same boat like 2 years ago!!!
So, the final verdict...are we prepared for worldcup to face India, lanka? Answer not at all. Another humiliation on the way if we don't start thinking wisely about our progress.

Look at them...this picture should be in first page.
Went to play cricket only three matches, brought two laguages of stuff and from india!
With lady on the side, I bet she was waiting for her 'indian sari' or 'indian cosmetics'.
I bet the families told these cricketers to do Eid shopping in India..What a country and people!!
I never saw any loosing team has so much fun and smile!!!

How do you know what's in the luggage? Maybe it is full of cricket gears. And shopping from India? You can get all of these in Bangladesh now. And it is very unwise on the ladies' part to rely on our cricketers' 'choice' for sari and cosmetics - they make horrible choices in chosing thier cricketing shots.

Most of the teams that are getting out in the low hundreds aren't due to their own performances. It's mainly due to poor pitch preparation that makes shots virtuallu unplayable. The NZ-SA match was such an affair. On the other hand, SL-PAK game was a ripper!
All in all, I think Bangladesh haven't really advanced any further than last time. Like CricFanBD said, we have only successfully shown the world that we are the better team among the minnows.

Just saw the video. Bashar(or Hablu?) aptly following his captaincy norm: "Minimize movement, minimize change, minimize work."
The resultant effect: Minimal dynamism, minimal risk, minimal inspiration, minimum success...

Should have bowled better for the Lanka match... Windies are looking good, but still we should have played them better.
