Default The 2 Warm-up matches: What should be the results?

IMO.... BD should get a good fightback from the scots and then should be comfortably thrashed by NZ.

The reason I am saying this... is that BD have been through a cake-walk year and is bit too high on confidence. If anything bad is to happen... it should be in these two warm up matches to be enough for wake-up calls.

What's your choice?

I really don't care how we do against the Scots.

I am very keep to see how Tamim, Sakib, Mushfiq handle the NZ attack and how our bowlers specially Razzak, Shahadat do against NZ. This is extremely important to measure up our standard against the big leagues in recent form.

Apart from what tigers eye is saying, we're also not experienced with the NZ side. I think it should give our batsmen a very different lesson. They now need to learn how to play against quality opponents. And quality opponents aren't among those who we play often.

In my mind, we should play defensive against scots to ensure that nothing unexpected happens. But we should go crazy against NZ. If we loose miserably, people will think that usual, as NZ is in good form. But, if we can cause some upset, it will give us huge mental advantage over IND and SL.

My 'desired' result is very different from my expectations. Of course, we want to win both the games, thrashing both Scotland and NewZealand and going on to become undefeated World Cup Champions.

But I feel that there might be slightly better odds of us winning against the Scots before losing to NewZealand.

To me the game against NZ would give us a more accurate picture of our strength. NZ are riding the crest of astounding wins against the world champions and are legitimate contenders. So a good fight against the Kiwis would go a long way in instilling much needed self belief in our team.

Will be very interesting to see how our Batsmen face the likes of Shane Bond(he is playing ... right?) on Windies pitches!

Hmm.. BD shouldn't have too much trouble the NZ bowling attack..

NZ has Bond and Vettori. Everyone else plays second fiddle pretty much.

Their batting is concerning. Fleming will be looking to get back in form against us. Taylor has immense potential but is fairly inconsistent, Vincent has one of the highest scores in ODIs, Fulton isnt bad and everyone knows what McMillan, Oram and McCullum can do.

Well I want Bangladesh to show some good fight against NZ. It is totally unlikely we will get two big wins in West Windies this time of the year. So if I had to choose, I rather lose to NZ but show some fight, gain some experience and confidence and then use that against India. This is the match that counts.

BD have to slaughter Scots.

Against NZ, I am not sure about the result. But should be careful about the following things:

(1) Get rid of Vincent as early as possible
(2) Be careful about Oram
(3) Be Cautious while handling Bond
(4) Slogging over should be our main headache

Match against NZ will test how our Aftab performs against quality pace.

Mash, Rajib will have to prove that they can choke World Class batsmen too.

Exactly!! Remember NZ is no longer playing on their own backyard. So, if BD can play according to potential, it could be anybody's game.

Showing-good-fight-days are over for our beloved team, I think. By winning both the matches, show the world we are no more minnows

I fear... that the NZ match might just get embarracing enough to be a big wake-up call for BD from a more-than-a-year long 'honeymoon'.

If in 2 years Bangladesh can reach the same level as Zimbabwe had during their best years, I will be more than happy. Realistically, the team needs work in every department...and until that happens (which will take time), a wakeup call won't help. We can't just rely on those days when things will click...we should now learn how to make things click.

I think BD will win one lose one. But i don't care about the result against NZ. I want to see what some of the young players do against them...

on a side note

Option 1,2 and 3 are out the window....Why didnt this poll have win against NZ, loss against Scotland? Im glad its not there, but what if it happens? Itll be interesting to see how we fair with Scotland. Lets hope we can thrash them just as well as SL did. Our last games with them were convincing, but not convincing enough IMO. They were both sort of like most of the warmup matches till now. Moving into a relatively bad position, then going on to thrash them convincingly. The SL VS Scotland match wasnt though, and weve got to make sure we do just as well, if not better....
