Mohamedan Arranges U-16 School Cricket to find Young Talents
Mohamedan Sporting Club of Dhaka has organized an U-16 School cricket tournament to discover teenage cricket talents in Dhaka. They seem to have plans to train up the promising young players found in the tuornament. 45 Schools will compete in 1st round divided in 4 groups. Top 2 from each group will play an 8-team Round Robin league after that.
Good effort... thanx to Mohamedan.

They should arrange similar program in every part of the country. Doing it in dhaka is not gonna help much as talents in Dhaka are pretty much exposed to everyone as there are nemerous cricket coaching going on in Dhaka now a days.

This is a gr8 step. Soccer teams all over the world do this - I'm not sure if the same trend is followed in cricket. This is awesome - other clubs should come forward too.

Any plan after they find the talents?
Or will be just a recognition that...hey kid, you play good cricket!!
We do a lot of short-term thing.
But doing a long-term project takes a lot of commitment...that’s where we lack the most. If Mohammedan take long-term step to nurture the talented kids they find from this tournament...that would GREAT!!

Well.. the news said they will train up the talents they find in this tournament.
Mohamedan is an organised large club... it will be great if they take efforts like this. I hope other leading clubs will do something similar too.. and also... do it throughout the country also.. not just in dhaka.

You cant expect that dhaka mohammedans to take the responsiblity of the entire country. From their U16 tournament,, even if we find one Mashrafee or a Saqibul Hasan... its a great find. What other big clubs should do is arrange a U19 tournament or intra varsity tournaments... Any tournaments that gets exposure is beneficial for our cricket.
Whether or not these players later becomes a star will depend on the players ability, dedication to the game and luck..... MSC is doing this to find their own players,, even that is good....

It is a good step. But they should check the ages properly to see a 20 year old does not play. .oops:

This is a very good effort. Now if only other clubs, organizations follow this example and not only in Dhaka but throughout the country then it will definitely bare fruit.

Question is, why is Mohammedans only doing this?
All big clubs, like Abahoni, Biman, Brothers etc should have their own pull of under 16 cricket teams. May be, BCC should make it a required to play in Dhaka Premier league to have a development team.
