Bangladesh U17 lost the final!
Yes you have read it correct.
After four wins in a row, they have gone DOWN in the final. Sri Lanks U17 won in style.
After winning the toss they elected to bat, scored 177/9 and in replay, Bangladesh U17 were all out for a poesy! 47
However, as a consolation Bangladesh captain Sakib al Hassan was awarded man of the tournament.
So why this sudden callops in the final? Were we over confident?

Here's the report from MCA:

Kuala Lumpur (28th August 2005): Sri Lanka created an upset defeating favourites Bangladesh by 103 runs in the finals of the Golden Hope Cricket Challenge at the Bayuemas Oval in Klang today.
Sri Lanka batting first lost 4 wickets with only 75 runs on the board. However a fine innings of 50 by Ashan Priyanyan and an equal good innings of 32 by Madawa Warnapura (son of the first Sri Lanka circket test captain Bandula Warnapura) paved way to a total of 177 for 9 at the end of the allotted 50 overs. Chamindu Ishanka chipped in with 16 runs.Shorawardi Shuvo and Shakib Al Hasan took 3 wickets each costing 27 and 40 runs respectively.
In reply Bangladesh lost the wickets of Amit Majumder (0), Tamim Iqbal Khan (16), Rahan Anas (0), Shakib Al Hasan (1) and Mahmudul Hasan (1) with four batsmen falling to leg before decisions. The team could only managed a paltry 74 runs all out in 19 overs. Iftekhar Nayeem Ahmed top score with 24 runs.
Lahiru Gamage who was adjudged man of the match captured 5 wickets for 30 runs. Isuru Udana Thilakarathna who was later named Best Bowler of the Series took 3 for 20. It was indeed a turn around drama as Bangladesh who had beaten Sri Lanka twice, first by 13 runs followed by 7 wickets victory in the preliminary rounds, looked set to claim the title.
Bangladesh's Tamin Iqbal Khan and Shakib Al Hasan were named Best Batsman and Best All rounder of the Series respectively. Malaysian's wicketkeeper Shafiq Sharif was named the Best Malaysian Player.
The President of the Malaysian Malays Cricket Association, His Royal Highness Tuanku Jaafar Tuanku Abdul Rahman presented the medals and special prizes to the winners.

They always show that short Malaysian guy in MOM ceremony, dunno know who else was there with him.
Anyway, it was just one lose. Hopefully, DeWinter now got some familiarity with our players and their cultures. Looking forward to see Shakib, Tamim, and Shuvo keep playing good cricket and coming to the national side after few years.

Perhaps, it's a good experience for our U-17 team. Atleast they learned how painful it is, loosing the game in final.
