Default Is Babar Azam overrated?

Yet another Ashraful esque failure in the NZ series...dont think he's crossed 20 all series. Plus averages 23 in Test cricket. Even all his hundreds have been hit vs Windies and Lanka.

Also the era in which he debuted, any class batter averages 50 in ODIs. Tamim averaging about 58 since Babar debuted is a case in point. Tamim is good but he's not even the 5th best ODI batter in the world.

Not saying he sucks, but Babar has been overhyped IMO.

one series can be bad for anyone. he is very consistent like yousuf youhana/ mohammed yousuf. so cant judge with one series

Pros: Looks classy, better than rest of of the Pakistani batter, solid accumulator
Cons: Can't hit big to save his life, nothing to show against big teams, lacks impact

Overall a very decent addition to Pak line-up. Being hyped to the Moon by Pakistanis, but you know them, they believed Shehzad, Akmals were better than Kohli and Tendu, so no one takes them seriously and Babar is not much rated outside Pak, so it is evened out. Good player but nothing so special about him from what I have seen.

Babar-e-Azam, I have seen very little of him, but he does score centuries often
Should be very useful against less strong opponents, which is great for Pak standard.
Let's see.

Early days for him still. But definitely has talent to make the world notice him. If he keeps on training hard, definitely will end up being a very good batsmen. If he lets fame get to him, will be another lost case like so many other Pakistani batsmen.

Time will tell, his Akmal genes are still dormant.

I remember UA started off with a bang

He's got good potential his average flatters him currently, but he's got good talent, I don't see him being a great, but he's certainly talented enough to be a long stay in international cricket

Any class batter averages 50...thats a ridiculous comment, it takes a great to average that high, even more in odis, guy like tamim has been unarguably great past couple of years

He is good but Pakistanis over-hyped him early in his career. They wanted to prove that they have someone better than Kohli. This doesn't help a young player at all when you're going thru a bad-patch.

Also, him averaging 52 in ODI and 47 in T20i don't justify his test average. He is better than that. Besides, he only played 11 tests so far. Boost his confidence and he will be in runs in no time.

he might be a good limited over player..11 tests is a good sample size in my view

Guptil is quite clearly a middle order batsman in tests, yet they open him, he's very poorly used

Sabbir is the most overrated. Bloody player is like the cuckoo bird, disguising himself as a cricket player.

I dont think he is rated that highly to be overrated

However I would pick him over the likes of Nasir and Shabbir in ODIs who are actually overrated.

Yes Mosaddek over the two anyday!
Imrul Koyes is the one who is overrated. Not good enough for even a BPL team with his style

Over rated? May be not. But he is struggling right now.

There was legendary Shomrat Babur of Uzbekistan founder of the Mughol dynasty of Hindustan.
And there was the dance director, Anjana's or Rojina's husband Babar of FDC - DHaka Film industry
And there was BNP's Babar -the home Minister - "We will pakraw our Sotrus..."

Then there was Azam Shah - the Last mughol, the one before or after(?) the last one (?) the skinny weak link Bahadur SHah.
And then there was Gulam Azam, the Razakar...usko khel kahtam...Fasi diyechi...
Then there was the legendary Bangladesh Rock/pop Pioneer of the 70's Azam Khan sinegr of such legendary peice, Alal o Dulal and Ore Shokhina, Ore Morjina

The question is which Babar Azam we are talking baout? Bujhiye lekhun please.
