Default Should Olympics Include Cricket?

Ian Chappell wrote a piece on this here: http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/maga...ry/365218.html
I totally disagree with this. He titles it "The Olympics can wait," basically wait till either USA or China is in top 8 lol. Look at baseball not that many countries plays it, yet it's still is an Olympics sport. Bottom line at least 20/20 format of cricket should be included in Olympics.

i personally don't think that any of the conditions outlined in the articles are valid for cricket to be included. besides, only the 20/20 version would be part of it. i personally might like the chance to watch some free 20.20 matches on tv, what with it being olympics. it would not the game any more harm than the introduction of 20/20 already has.

If Cricket is indeed included from 2012 Olympic in London, how would it affect the West Indian team? Currently, all the islands go separately as independent nations in Olympics. Would that be the norm still? I reckon it would be. So, we may have eight-ten different teams from the Carribean alone.

T20 is not cricket to me. Why give Australia another medal?

Thought India won the the last WC beating Pak in the final. I am not a big fan of 20/20 yet, but, am all for it, if its becomes an Olympic sport. Stacking against the odds, its our best chance of getting a medal in an Olympic. If winning the 100m gold has 1,00000000:1 odds for BD, a medal in 20/20 would have 10:1 odd. ki bolo? thik kina?

Haha. Cricket should definitely be part of the summer olympics and events like trampoline and synchronized swimming/dancing, etc should be discarded. I know Canada won a silver and we're expecting another medal in the women's freestyle trampoline event but it shouldn't be included in the olympics. It belongs in the "X-games" type of events. I have far less to comment about synchrnized dancing on the pool. What a joke! I appologize in advance if I've offended anyone. Btw, due to some technical issues, the earliest cricket can be incorporated into the Olympics is 2020.

Only 20/20 cricket could be included. Problem is, it's not really cricket. However, may increase interest al over the world. 20/20 will also give countries like USA, China (or any baseball playing nations) a chance to compete (after regional qualifiers). For us cricket fans, it'll just give us a sense of belonging and will give countries like BD and others an opportnity for medals if they make it an A team or Non-Pro event.

Other then that, there's no point draggging cricket into the olympics.

All that aside, I'd love to see ODIs in Olympics, but not sure if it'll fly.

cricket could use more recognition. but the event will be too long. and the event isn't held in a cricket playing country, there won't enough grounds to finish the event in time. just look at IPL

Both ICC and IOC are thinking to give space for cricket in the London Olympic. IOC is thinking to cut short baseball and soft ball as they are not global popular game.

It may sound selfish, but I did not watch the Olympic at all, as none of the sports interested me. If there was cricket, I would have definitely watched. If there are more like me, then adding cricket will bring in bigger audience to Olympic, ie. more sponsor money.

I would like to see 20-20 at the Olympics. This would have cricket to be spread in continents where it is unknown right now, like Europe and America.
