Deco is a huge signing for Chelsea. Comfortably better than any other central midfielder in England, although his prancing, diving nancy-boy ways won't hold much sway with English referees.

Fitting that one of the most detestable footballers in the world should find himself playing for one of the world's most detestable clubs.

David Bentley, widely being touted as the next David Beckham is strongly being linked with Tottenham.

David Villa, star of Euro '08 is wanted by both Liverpool and Arsenal.

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon insists Frank Lampard will see out the final year of his contract if a new deal cannot be agreed. Lampard, 30, wants a longer deal than Chelsea's current offer of four years. - BBC SPORT

I doubt Chelsea will pay 150,000 a week to someone who will only be warming benches at 35.

Eventually Shockey is traded to the saint. They talked about it during the draft but it never materialed. But eventually the trade is done.

Regardless how talented is Shokey is, he brings some baggage.... I think Kevin Boss will replace him adequately.

Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will remain a Manchester United player for "at least one more year".

The 23-year-old Portugal winger had frequently expressed his desire to leave for Spanish champions Real Madrid this summer.

But he told Portuguese paper Publico: "Sir Alex Ferguson heard my arguments, I heard his and it was settled that the best thing would be for me to stay.

"I can confirm that, next season, I will play for Manchester United."

United manager Ferguson, speaking after the club's friendly with Juventus on Wednesday, said he was "pleased" Ronaldo was staying.

And Ferguson gave a revealing insight into how he dealt with the Ronaldo transfer saga, which saw two months of frenzied speculation that the player would leave.

"I flew to Portugal some weeks ago and we cleared the air and he spoke to some of the players," he told MUTV.

"The boy has been through a troubled time in terms of the approaches from Spain, but once he knew my stance, he then settled down.
