Shadat has potential to become one of best pace boler for bangladesh....no doubt about that.. And I think its good replacement shadat instead of anybody elese... Some people talks about syed rasel.... lol he cant even ball...... His ball is so worst sometimes batsman like jaisuriya cant even play... Wonder why he is still in the team. He is good for keniya and zimbabwe...

Honestly, I'd rather Shafiul over Shahadat. He has wayy more discipline than Shahadat ever could.

I saw him bowl at the Mirpur stadium. I'd say around 130 km/h, though that could be horribly inaccurate due to the lack of pace bowlers to compare his pace with.

Tareq Aziz I think bowls in the mid-high 120's on average.

by my rough estimation, tareq/nazmul/dollar/robin are all same identical pace although i've never seen tareq bowl. all those guys are high 120 bowlers. sajidul and tapash were of a higher pace, with tapash of regular 135 speeds and could hit 85 mph. i think talha when he first came on was around that pace as he hit 136 in the 2003 WC according to a cricinfo article on shoaib and lee. mash/rajib/rubel are our only guys to have hit 140, with rubel being the quickest we've ever had to date, and rajib now being just a tad quicker than rasel. rasel is a 115-120k bowler.

if shafi is significantly faster than tareq, it puts him at 130 minimum (which is not surprising at all), and if he can consistently bowl 135 it will be a good find for us provided he indeed has those tricks siddons was talking about. 135k is fast enough for international level if you can keep the ball in the right places.

টেস্ট দলে নিয়মিত, কিন্তু বেশি খরুচে। এই অভিযোগে ওয়ানডে খেলা হচ্ছে না অনেক দিন। সর্বশেষ ওয়ানডে খেলেছেন গত বছর অক্টোবরে। শাহাদাত হোসেন এবার ত্রিদেশীয় সিরিজের ১৫ সদস্যের দলেও ছিলেন না। সুযোগ পেয়েছেন নাজমুল হোসেনের ইনজুরিতে। মিরপুরের ইনডোরে এই পেসার কথা বললেন দলে এই আসা-যাওয়া আর ভবিষ্যত্ নিয়ে...

 সবাই নেটে ব্যাটসম্যানকে বোলিং করছিল, আর আপনি একা এক নেটে শুধু স্টাম্পে বোলিং করে গেলেন...
শাহাদাত হোসেন: আসলে এক নেটে তো একসঙ্গে তিন পেসার বোলিং করে, ওখানে তিনজন ছিল। তা ছাড়া কাল শ্রীলঙ্কার বিপক্ষে ম্যাচ। ওদের দুজন বাঁহাতি পেসার আছে, ব্যাটসম্যানদের প্র্যাকটিসের জন্য তাই রাসেল বল করছিল।

 আপনার তো ওই তিনজনের মধ্যে থাকার কথা ছিল।
শাহাদাত: আমিও তাই আশা করেছিলাম। মাশরাফি ভাই নেই, তারপর আমিই তো সবচেয়ে অভিজ্ঞ। ৫ বছরের মতো জাতীয় দলে খেলছি। তা ছাড়া ভারত-শ্রীলঙ্কার সঙ্গে আমি অনেক খেলেছি, ওদের সম্পর্কে আমি জানি।

 কখন জানলেন, আবার দলে সুযোগ পেয়েছেন?
শাহাদাত: কাল (পরশু) সাকিব আমাকে বলল নাজমুল তো ইনজুরিতে পড়েছে। তখনই বুঝলাম, আমি মনে হয় আবার সুযোগ পাচ্ছি।

 দলে ফেরার খবর জানার পর কেমন লাগল?
শাহাদাত: দলের সঙ্গে থাকতে পারব, ভালো তো লাগারই কথা। তবে সত্যি বলতে, খুব একটা ভালো লাগেনি। সেরা দল ঘোষণা করা হয়ে গেছে, এরপর ইনজুরিতে পড়া কারও পরিবর্তে ঢুকে কি আর এতটা উপভোগ করা যায়?

 গত কিছুদিন থেকেই তো আপনি দলে নিয়মিত নন। এই সিরিজেও বাদ পড়েছিলেন। এমন হচ্ছে কেন?
শাহাদাত: হয়তো তরুণদের সুযোগ দেওয়া হচ্ছে। সুহাস (শফিউল) লিগে ভালো করেছে, সুযোগ ওর পাওয়া উচিত। আর এটাই হয়ে থাকে, আমিও যখন তরুণ ছিলাম, তাপস ভাইয়ের (তাপস বৈশ্য) বদলে আমাকে নেওয়া হয়েছিল। তবে বাদ পড়েও যখন আবার দলে এসেছি, সুযোগ পেলে জায়গাটা ধরে রাখার সব চেষ্টাই করব। প্রমাণ করে দেব, কারও বদলি হিসেবে নয়, নিজের যোগ্যতা দিয়েই আমি দলে থাকতে পারি।

 কিন্তু আপনার ফর্মটাও তো ভালো যাচ্ছে না, আপনার বিপক্ষে অভিযোগ, রানটা একটু বেশিই দিয়ে ফেলেন।
শাহাদাত: দেখুন, অনেক দিন তো আমি ম্যাচই খেলি না। এমনকি জিম্বাবুয়ের বিপক্ষেও দলে থেকে ম্যাচ খেলার সুযোগ পেলাম না। ম্যাচ খেললেই না বোঝা যাবে রান বেশি দিই কি না কিংবা আমি কতটা ফর্মে আছি। তা ছাড়া আমি অ্যাটাকিং বোলার, সব সময়ই উইকেট নেওয়ার জন্য বোলিং করি। কাজেই রান একটু বেশি যেতেই পারে, অ্যাটাকিং বোলাররা রান বেশি দেয়। ব্রেট লির মতো ফাস্ট বোলারও তো অনেক রান দেয়, ওভারপ্রতি প্রায় ৫ করে।

 দেখলাম, খুব মনোযোগ দিয়ে নতুন পেসার শফিউলের বোলিং দেখছেন...
শাহাদাত: হ্যাঁ, ও তো অনেক ভালো বোলার। ভালো পারফরম্যান্স করেছে বলেই সুযোগ পেয়েছে। আমি ওকে অনেক পরামর্শ দিই, সিনিয়র হিসেবে ওকে সাহায্য করতে আমি সব সময়ই প্রস্তুত।
