Moving up the ladder: Now at 8, countdown starts for number 7 in ICC ranking
Now on 17th October 2010 we have moved to number 8 in ICC ODI ranking. Countdown starts from today to achieve the number 7 position and all importantly to hold on to number 8 position.
Well done Bangladesh.

Let's not get carried away too much... now that we're ranked much higher (points-wise), any defeats to Zimbabwe will affect our standing a lot more. We need to beat them at least 4-1.

We are not getting carried away. Holding on to number 8 position will be very difficult, but we must fight hard to stay on and target the position above. Onlyt 23 points above now. A 5-0 loss at the hands of India will make New Zealand somewhere around mid 80s.

West Indies are still ahead in the rankings. The rankings points are rounded up from decimals to whole numbers and they are just a tiny bit ahead.

As long as WI continue playing against spin-major sides, we have nothing to fear about.

Yep, we are still the numer 9. When rating is tied, even the fraction matters. WI got 67.05 and Bangladesh got 66.68. Hopefully we will be the number 8 after the Zimbabwe series.

Whatever happens we must not lose to a lower ranking team than us as this will take a lot of points from us. I pray that we banglawash Zim as well.

How many points are we gonna get if we beat Zim in all the matches? At least 1 or 2 I guess, so that should be good enough.

One loss to Zimb will cost us 3 points. I hope we will win the series 5-0.
