Afghanistan has beaten Ireland. They won by 7 wickets. That is a very good and encouraging performance.

I dont believe this.

BCB should invite Ireland and Afghanistan over for a TRI Series.

Many of the Associates are improving rapidly, but because they have to fight it out to secure a place in the big ICC events, they have to improve and play well, whereas BD gets automatic selection because they are a full member. I believe that if BD had to fight to secure a place in these competitions, they will be a much better side. They should play a tournament with Afganistan, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Netherlands and Scotland.

They have done it again. But this time it is in T20. Didn't we lose against Ireland badly in the T20 game and ODIs in the WCs?

today, if we played a 20 over match.

i have no doubt afghanistan would beat us at least 5 times out of 10 in 20-20s...

but i don't think they'd pose much of a threat in the longer version games, 50 overs or 4 dayers.

Ireland may not get a place in the 20/20 WC. i will be happy if Afghanistan can secure a place. They deserve it. I feel that Afghanistan and Netherlands may secure the 2 places.

UNBELIEVABLE................not talking about their T20 victory. Have a look at their recent First Class record.

http://www.cricinfo.com/2010iccwt20/...ch/438891.html

I am thoroughly impressed. Remember Ireland is a very good team. They could very well give us a run for our money even in the longer format of the game. Afghans are improving FAST. They looked better than Ireland in that game. And what is more amazing is all of the players were born in Afghanistan. However, I am assuming some of them may have played some cricket in Pakistan.

And today they took out Scotland.
What a performance by the Afgans. I am starting to worry. Without any infra structure how can they play in such a high level even for a sustained period of time? Wasn't it this captain who said they fancy their chances against BD about two years back?

Kudos to the Afgans. Big heart they have.

afghans are a different breed - i should know, i'm an 8th generation pashtun (descended from Chand Khan of Chandpur, Comilla) - here in nashville the best basketball players in our Islamic center aren't the african americans, but afghans. they're tall, extremely athletic, many of them can dunk, and they're quite strong. oh and of course they're cocky, arrogant, fearless, and proud. and not just the pashtuns, but the tajiks and the farsi-speaking chinamen too.

not very religious, most of them.

the rapper Immortal Technique also claims that Afghans are the toughest people, who he thinks would survive a nuclear holocaust, if that were to happen.

Ireland got pwned. Maybe they should stop chasing Bangladesh's Test status and concentrate on winning matches.

Afghans won the match, also UAE won their match. It looks like these 2 two teams might get the two slots. I still think that Ireland is in the reckoning.
