Default The Most Awaited match for YEARS!!

I remember in BC people used to target that once we are above WI, we can be considered an 'Elite'...we are no. 8 now...but still not firmly there yet.....this is the match...this is the ocassion....if we win this....our road to quarters is opened.....we go a notch higher...and WORLD can finally have evidence from rankings with the appreciable difference in ratings that will exist between us and Wi if we win it.........whether people have forgotten this or not.....but west indies was always gonna be the first hurdle to overcome...and remeber...we have defeated all the major teams comprising their mainstream players, except for WI...
Time has arrived to SETTLE SCORES!!!

A new Era herald and awaits to unfold on March 4, 2011

We need to win against WI and England, then the Dutch and the South Africans.
Then the real task begins when we are going to face the Australians, the kiwis or the Pakis at the SF.

I want Tigers to meet India in the final and beat them on their own backyard

Why are you guys obsessed with India? It's unhealthy. We should be happy if we can even get to QF first. And if India can smash 370 in our own ground, how much you think they will score in their home?

No. We need these wins for moving towards # 7

# 8 is sealed/cemented if you beat WI.

The rankings are important but if you play good cricket ranking takes care of itself. In my opinion what is more important is -
1. Make sure to never loose against minnows. Occasionally there will be a upset but BD should be winning more than 90% matches against minnows.
2. Give fight to top 3-4 teams even when loosing. BD should not be loosing by 60-70 runs or more. At least in 80-90% of the defeats against good teams, it should be a close defeat.
3. Defeat top 6 teams much more consistently.

Yes, this would be the first step in being considered among elite 8 of cricket. Beating WI in world cup will give the kind of recognition which they deserve and also necessary. Still there is a long way to go but every step needs to be taken. A loss here will almost do away with years of hard work.
BD should be in such a league that beating Ireland, Netherland etc should not be a cause of enormous joy but just a way of life.
BD should have beaten Ireland more convincingly like most of the top teams should have done but a win is a win.
All the best to BD fans and yes India would love to meet you in the finals.

Bring Mortaza on. Do you really think one bowler on flat Mumbai pitch is going to give night mares to India batsmen? Indian batsmen recently fared well against Steyn, Morkel & company. Mortaza may have won 2 matches for BD against India but probably he would have played in 7-8 other matches against India in which BD would have lost.
No doubt Mortaza is a good bowler but a Tamim alone or Mortaza alone cannot beat India or Australia or any other quality team. Yes they will get you victory once in blue moon but to win regularly you need to perform as a team.

BTW, my intention when I said India would love to play BD did not mean that it will be easy game against BD. You love to play against a strong opposition and not a weak opposition. It is not worth the time unless there is a worthy opponent.

This is the biggest game for Bangladesh, no doubt. Netherlands with their inept bowling attack should not really cause much trouble. And WI should not be able to beat any of the top 3 teams[SA, IND, ENG].We win this and QF is almost guaranteed.
Also, winning this will [temporarily] resolve the debate about who is no.8

If we combine our first ODI batting & 2nd ODI's bowling then we can surely beat WI.(infact in that case we can beat any1)
Hope for the best.

Nothing would work.
We would break in whatever "G" they form.

Win -no matter against who- at least puts you in good rhythm. Team should go and get their fix.

They must win against the Dutch and WI to cement a place in the QF. England and SA are tough customers to beat and will take a mammoth effort.
i am still doubtful after seeing their perfformance against Ireland, they barely won that match as their batting once again let them down, If they bat first, nothing less than 275 runs, the Neds made more than that against England, so BD has to watch out here, I feel that the Dutch are tougher customers than the Windians.
