Kibria Killing Probe Report
8 BNP men made the attack
Political dominance motive, mastermind unknown

A high-powered government probe has identified eight BNP-men as responsible for the January 27 grenade attack on Awami League meeting at Baidder Bazar that killed five people including former finance minister SAMS Kibria and injured 70 others.

In their analysis, the investigators said the attack was aimed at establishing dominance in the local politics of Habiganj as well as at securing the local constituency. But, they failed to identify the mastermind.

.....
In their report submitted Monday evening, the investigators identified AKM Abdul Quaiyum, Habiganj district BNP vice president and president of Zia Gabeshana Parishad, as the planner of the attack.

Sources said the investigators named Jainal Abedin Mumin, Lashkarpur union ward 2 BNP secretary and a leader of Zia Gabeshana Parishad (ZGP), as the prime suspect of throwing the grenade.

this is pretty damning and unfortunate if true. How does the BNP high command not have control over these decisions. This is really messed up...

This shows how sick and uncivilized politics are going on in our country.
Recently we have lots of major political killing all over the country.
Smas Kibria, Ahsanullah Master, bomb on Hasina, British high commissioner etc.
I think both BNP and AL don't have full command or control on their organizations all over the country.
BNP should bring those criminals to justice by any means, to save good politicians and this country from sick politics.
Otherwise criminals and mullahs will always be benefited out of this situation.

10 bnp operatives have been charged, Sounds like a few low level bnp operatives are being "sacrificed". Pretty typical fare for bangladesh.
