I am going to root for NZ. If NZ beats Sri Lanka it would make our victory that much more special

Wow well done NZ. Just shows their still such a dangerous team in the shorter versions.
As for SL, they've been too dependent on Dilshan, Sanga and Jaya. Once these guys retire, thr likes of Matthews, Chandimal and Kusal are going to have to step ip or else they'll continue to slide.

An extended Bellman analysis is needed to revamp Duckworth-Lewis, I guess, as for the new rules. It was a treat to watch them chase, Ronci, Latham and Nathan, all had crucial roles in the win. After that Lasith over I changed channels, only came back to find the partnership is gone and two new batters facing the last over. What an over, reminded me of Miandad.
It was also funny Mathews using the word 'complacent' over and over. That presenter Alistair did not let Senior Cullam or Mills breath easy asking about the Banglawash over and over.

I am happy. Now the haters cannot say this NZ side is the worst ever , anyone can beat them etc etc. This really makes our wins sweeter. Whitewash Sri Lanka now plz

Well, Sanga and Dilshan even couldn't save the match yesterday! Both have scored 50's in the last match and Sl was 138/1 23 overs!
All credits goes to the Blackcaps - they have played superbly.

This is true. Although this SL side are pretty damn mediocre. I'm not even going to hesitate to say we're favorites when he host them and also to beat them in the Asia Cup. They're core is just too old and their new generation haven't gotten a whole lot of experience. SL are probably 2-3 years away from becoming a decent side again.

Just 2-3? I'm thinking they are going to go in for an Aussie dip and be unable to recover for a decade.
But yeah, screw the rankings, NZ winning puts things into perspective and is actually a positive for us.

More like 2-3 years removed from becoming bottom feeders in the Asian food chain...until now at least Sanga and Jaya are there to hold the fort for some time when things start going south. Once they're gone, who is there to fill in their shoes? Nobody...West Indies isn't in much better shape either. Without Chanderpaul (almost 40) and Gayle (approaching 35 and already in visible decline), their batting line up will surely be found wanting at the highest level everywhere outside the Carribeans...Pakistan will probably have the worst batting once Misbah and Younis retire, but their bowling will still keep them relevant.

SL selectors need to try some other players. they're putting all their potatoes in one sack by constantly going with guys like chandimal even thirimanne and mathews. these guys were supposed to have stepped up by now, they haven't. there is still time, the selectors can still try out some other batsmen before the big guys retire but time is running out and when it does the transition will be all that more rocky than it could be if they are to find some better options.
the problem is when you have a kid like chandimal who looked and was touted to be the next big thing (or one of) in world cricket, it's hard to drop them even if they've been failing because you're always thinking just one great innings and he'll turn the corner. but sometimes you just have to say, it isn't there time and we've got to groom some others. now is that time.
and i don't think it's just the batting, i'm sure there are some good spinners around SL that aren't getting their chances and probably some pacers to.
