Default **Official everything about Athar Ali Khan thread**

Athar Ali khan has been involved directly or indirectly in Bd cricket for more than 20years.He is also a commentator.I think he deserves a thread where we can discuss positively or negatively about him.

He needs to get rid of the pathetic rubber band he uses to tie his hair at the back - Something akin to Shah Rukh has been seen to do lately.

I saw him at The Westin, got up, thinking I'll go have a little chat with him(looked like he was waiting for his lunch guest to arrive), saw the ridiculous rubber band, and sat back down.

But who will ever forget his 22 ball, 33 minute duck against India.

RE his commentating : he is like our national team, close to a decade now, but no improvement.

Negativity aside, definitely a legend as far as Bangladeshi cricket is concerned, and someone who truly loves Bangladeshi cricket, and wants it to reach great heights, with no personal agendas.

i enjoyed his batting at his playing days
he was the closest to int standard amongst that lot of pre-test generation (532 runs at an avg of almost 30)

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/conte...yer/56227.html

as a commie- he is horrible at times but you cant complain about his passion...ready to take hits for the team (poor onfield performence of bd) and up there to dish it out and neither he is naive (cant forget his argument with ramiz raza)

ODIs 19 19 1 532 82 29.55 945 56.29

^^ Dash, there are still batsmen in our team now who would love to have such an average.

he frequents westin a lot and is most often on 23rd floor lounging. he is a nice guy. that being said, truth be told, they ( shamim and him) are not actually necessary. bangladesh media has progressed enough with enough educated young kids who can do a way better job than him.

One of the greatest moment of BD cricket history. Talking about commentators, wonder if Bashar speaks good enough english to take that up.

I like this guy. He is really passionate about BD Cricket and was one of the early English commentators. He also has a twitter account which I follow sometimes. I remember back in the days he opened up the first Reebok Store in Dhaka. If I am not mistaken, Wasim Akram and few other intl players came there from time to time.

As far as I remember it was about Rashid Latif's famous catch during Multan test. I remember Atahar's said something about that incident and Ramiz said "typical Bangladeshi Comment" and Atahar reply was "typical Pakistani reply"

Akram Khan's ancestors are from Bihar. Golla and Athar are different. Which Nafees? SN or Nafees Iqbal?

But as both roman and simon bhai said, they have done more for BD cricket than anyone else and are pure khati bengalis.

Athar has way better cricketing knowledge than Shamim (hate his pretentious accent). Somehow really fond of his commentary despite the shortcomings.
