Default Slap on Chappel's face

Indian current coach, came with moto to expand India's current player base. So that, in the long run India would be served better. A good strategy indeed. However, in that process, he has excluded proven batsmen (Ganguly - still getting paid by BCCI) and bowlers (Zaheer Khan, Balaji, Nehra) and inserted new blood. Thus we are seeing inexperienced players can't win against a side who belongs to the bottom of the table. WI got thrashed by SA 5-0, Pak 3-0 in the previous two home series. Away series against NZ wasn't that pretty either. So being among the elite it was expected that India would dominate both ODI and test series. They have not even come close.

Zaheer khan is one of the discarded Indian player who was the only one performing beside Pathan consistantly. Follow the link below and see how he is answering to Chappel's move on discarding him.

What if he was in the current squad at WI? 9 wickets in a innings (overseas) is no joke.

He could've got the other wicket also but the keeper dropped a hard chance.... I think Patel is a good find for India.... he is quick and uses the swing well but VR Singh or Sreesanth are disappointing so far...

VRV Singh hasn't done anything so far. Zaheer and Agarkar could not have done any worse than VRV and Sreeshanth

Leaving out Agarkar for the test series after his stand-out performance in the ODIs is a blinder. But well, I am happy for that
The strategy is quite simple. If you want to discard some players, discard them while playing against the weak ones. Unfortunately for BCCI, it back-fired this time, especially with their hard luck. The ODI series could very easily be 4-1 in favor of India and the test series be 2-0 already. Poor 'em!

Thank you Chappel for proving that there IS a god. Until BCCI gets their act together, I can't support the Indian cricket team, even if they have some of my fav players (Ganguly is not one of them).

With the world cup a year away, it was really stupid (for lack of a better word) of Chappel to break the team dynamics. Some of the younger players will have a hard time getting over their recent failures.

Chappel is getting old. So he is tring to become young staying with some new young players. I suggest Chappel to join the u-19/17 team.

WI is no.8 or 9.

India lost 4-1 to them. That tells all.

Prior to this India got lucky on occations and got some really weak and injured sides at home.

One has got to play the best possible side. It is strange that some deserved players are playing county while India is losing matches to weakest of weaks: West indies.

Outside of Subcontinent, India is the Worst one---Probably the Champion from the
bottom. This is 100% true about Indian's Fan also---they are worst one too among all other fans in the world.

Really? Any way Sometimes Laughing is necessary. But your comments about WI are really harsh and not acceptable in public forum.

VRV Singh did not deserve to be in the Indian team. It is unfortunate that Agarkar, despite his improved performance in recent times was dropped because of his past record.

Zaheer Khan claimed 9 wickets in a county match under favourable bowling conditions, but that does not necessarily make him better than the other Indian bowlers. India already has Pathan, a better LFM than Zaheer, and Pathan himself is not very successful in West Indies.

Despite poor bowling, India came close to victory in both the test matches played so far.For all their weakness, India is still a stronger team than West Indies, at least in tests and on West Indian pitches too.

Zaheer took the nine wickets on the second day. On the third day, his bowling spell in the remaining part of the first innings was 5.3 - 1 - 73 - 0 while the last wicket stand made 97. In the second innings he had 27-1-122-2. This is more like the Zaheer we know

Is there a logic flaw? We talk about how important it is for players to have experience in the domestic cricket. Yet we see coaches pushing young players into the lime light (who don't have the experience) thinking they will become the next Tendu, Viv Richards, McGrath, Marshall. So does it seem like talent has over taken experience in cricket? A knowledgable cricketer having experienced success in the highest level how can Chappel make these moves is beyond me. If he was the coach of Bangladesh I would say ok no players have the experience so he is making the right move. But we are talking about India. Don't they have lillie's camp and other camps there? So what's the rush?
