Default Sunzamul Islam thread

There isn't a Sunza thread so here it is:

Good job yesterday.

19 much needed runs (3rd highest)
2 wickets (should have been 3), 2.8 econ, and supported Fizz well from the other end.

It's too bad he's already 29. We have younger, better options. But he's earned another game atleast.

Who are the younger, better options?

Names please, so that I can look them up and keep tabs.

With so many SLAs in the country, I'm surprised Shakib is the only top quality one.

doesn't matter as long as he can perform, we are the people sometime talk high of giving credits to Asussies team selection how they select their player after age of 28. And now we are talking it is bad he is 29. We need performer not the age! He is a spinner so if he can contain his physical shape and performance high, I see he can still can serve next 6-7 years, all depends on his fitness and the quality of performance, not the age.

fair point. Now let me tell you how it is in the real world. Age matters. If he produced the same figures I listed above at age 20/21, all of BD media would have hailed him as the next Shakib. But at age 28, he likely won't even get the next game. And if he does, he will have to play out of his skin just to be considered for the next series. That is the reality of it.

Yes he can contribute for the next 8 years or so, but will he get the chance? I doubt it.

Acc to cricinfo, he just turned 28.

Why stop at 29? Make him 30 already.

I was wondering if Arafat's int'l career is over. But Sunzamul can actually spin the ball and bat a bit. An improvement. Needs to be more accurate.

SLA's always tend to do well against Zimbabwe. And yesterdays game was a turning wicket. Will be interesting to see how he fares against Sri Lanka.

Sunzamul won't play vs SL because he was picked exclusively for Zim, who're notoriously poor vs SLAs, and SL isn't weak vs spin. It'll be a pace AR vs SL instead. It'll have nothing to do with age. He'll play only if wicket is 4th/5th day test level slow after all these matches even with curation.

Yes, I'm fully aware of why he was picked for Zim. Thanks once again for stating the obvious. My point is he likely won't be feature again given his age, including the next series against Zim.

As far as younger and better options: start with Moss and soon to be Miraz. Both younger and better.

Ar Ki bolbo. Some people are needlessly combative and have nothing of value to add.

Miraz isn't a SLA.

I simply pointed out his correct age. You're the one making a big deal out of it lol.
