Default An Idea for Bangladesh cricket

On BC, I have seen a lot of people coming with their ideal solution. Well I know some of you guys might be tired of reading these, but i couldnt help sharing mine. Here is my idea,

A short term solution would be, GET A PSYCHOLOGIST! and Mashrafee and Alok if they are fit. But for future, we have to think beyond that.

First things first, we need to get rid of the mediocre army within the team. We have 4 years until next world cup and we must start NOW. We need to find fresh talent for different areas. Re call the experienced ones because we have seen what happens when you leave the game to young minds all alone. The coaching staff should stop trying to mix up players and pick expertise for different formats. First, the most important format, ODI

From the current set of players, I would keep Tamim, Shakib, Nafees, Shafiul, Rubel, Razzaq and Shuvo. Rest are waste!

For test, I would keep Tamim, Shakib, Rubel, Razzaq, Mahmudullah, Imrul, Naeem and Mushfiq.

For T20, It should be Tamim, Shakib, Rubel, Razzaq, Ashraful, Junayed and Nafees.

We have seen what happens when you try to mix them up. For example, Mahmudullah Riyad who would make a genuine top order batsman in test Is playing the role of Power hitter!!!! You cant succeed like that, well not consistently.

Second, we need get the new players in and give them a shot. But before that, we need them to work with the coaches for a while and learn the BASICS before getting tested. Here is a list of players I though could replace so many of our current players.

Shabbir Rahman (A potential allrounder with hitting skills for ODI and T20)

Nizumuddin (A possible T20 opener and might be a powerplay basher if trained properly)

Shuvogoto Hom ( A moderate top order batsman in all format)

Jahirul Islam ( A potential replacement for Mushfiq and he even performed very well against England in English conditions)

Elias Sunny (We need better spinners..)

Forhad Hossain ( potential test sop order batsman)

Shamsur Rahman ( He has been ignored for a while now)

Amit Mojumdar

Nasir hossain

Saqlain Sajib

These players have been performing well in NCL and DPL for quite a while and stood out better against majority of the national XI players recently. They should be considered for training . They should also be sent to A tours to get better level experience.

At the same time, we need to revive some experienced ones. If our players were experienced, they wouldn’t have “chocked” so badly! Its time to bring back Mashrafee Mortaza for ODI and T20. Make him the captain for ODI because he is clearly a far more stable bowler than Shafiul, Rubel and can power hit unlike others. We need to solve out Strike rate woes and power play disasters and that’s why players like Aftab Ahmed,, Alok Kapali , Forhad Reza should be recalled. For tests, we need someone experienced as well. The player that have been performing brilliantly in tests but was misused in ODI as power hitter was Faisal Hossain. He can be a huge strength for us. So the list becomes

Mashrafee Mortaza (Well what should i say?)

Alok Kapali ( Again we need experience in our order. He is not that good but could be soo much better with some proper guidance and training)

Aftab Ahmed (Only for T20 and a powerplay player if everyone else fails)

Faisal Hossain (A must in for test cricket)

Forhad Reza (A rare allrounder who is finding his form back)

These players should be revived and trained for extensive period to get back their form. So the XI for ODI becomes,

Tamim Iqbal

Shahriar Nafees/ Imrul Kayes (If Nafees plays well than Nafees)

Jahirul Islam

Mahmudullah Riyad

Shakib Al Hasan

Shuvogoto Hom

Shabbir Rahman

Alok Kapali

Mashrafee Mortaza

Abdur Razzaq

Rubel Hossain

With Shafiul, Naeem, Imrul and Forhad Reza benched.

For T20,

Tamim Iqbal

Shahriar Nafees

Junayed Siddique

Mohammed Ashraful

Shakib Al Hasan

Jahirul Islam

Alok Kapali

Shabbir Rahman

Mashrafee Mortaza

Sorwardi Shuvo (because he is economical)

Shafiul Islam

With Niazumuddin, Nazmul, Aftab and Razzaq benched

For test

Tamim Iqbal

Imrul Kayes

Jahirul Islam

Shakib Al Hasan

Mushfiqur Rahim

Mahmudullah Riyad

Faisal Hossain

Naeem Islam

Abdur Razzaq

Rubel Hossain

Shahadat Hossain

With Forhad Hossain, Shuvogot Hom, Shafiul and Shamsur Rahman benched.

I hope you can see why I benched the players I did and how there is a backup for literally every slot in the XI. This would strengthen our individual formats and bring out specialist players. For captain, I would make Mashrafee if he is fit but only for ODI’s. For tests and t20s, SHakib is an ideal candidate of all time. I would also relieve Tamim of his vice captaincy. A player like him does not need that extra burden and will play so much better when he does not have to worry about rest of the order.

I would also like Ian Pont and Julien Fountain to stay; I also don’t have any problem with Siddons if he gives up his stubbornness on selection and give players a fair chance to prove themselves.

BCB will also need to go through a reformat as cricket has no place for politics. I would suggest Saber Hossain to take over as he was the best official we ever had in history. BCB will also need to demolish this batting friendly wicket in Shere Bangla to a spin, slow track like Chittagong. However, they should consider making pacer friendly tracks in Syllet, Khulna to give our seamers a Sydney in Bangladesh! Moreover, BCB needs to stop planning these pointless ODIs and concentrate on tests. Our test status is in danger and a nation cannot succeed until they master the most genuine form of cricket that is TEST.

Note: there is a role for everyone and space to make a comeback.
And I am not suggesting going through a complete revolution. I suggest the new players to be included slowly when they are 100% ready. This process MUST not be rushed and they should be tried against minnows first. If a youngstar fails right away, it drowns their confidence. So lets not rush it. And the experienced ones should go through extensive conditioning camps and work on specific techniques with coaches.
